I just finished 6 full weeks, and am trying to decide if I should continue. I am thinking of just using Retin A and glycolic acid again and leaving out the hydroquinone. Just wondered how many weeks most of you guys are going or went? TIA!

Oh if you are not planning on doing a peel (which is what Obagi is doing for you only faster) please don't stop. You skin is just beginning to transform and it is a shame when some give up at this time.

Lots of Obagi users here
http://www.spectacularskin.com/cgi-bin/forum/index.cgi

If you don't have hyperpigmentation issues, Clear is not nec but at least stay with the Blender and Retin A.

I did 7 weeks and am having a peel this weekend. Then I'll go on Maintanence.

Good luck!

According to what I've read on the Biochemistry of Beauty site, the only real difference between Obagi and ordinary Retin-A [besides the horrendous price difference] is that the Obagi regime suggests using 1 gm of Retin-A per use ... whereas the ordinary prescription Retin-A suggests a pea-sized amount per use.

So ... if you were to switch to ordinary Retin-A and glycolic acid ... just use the 1 gm per use amount of Retin-A and you've got the same thing.

As for the hydroquinone, the owner of the Biochemistry of Beauty site wouldn't recommend it for anyone to use. She has far more scientific knowledge than do I, so I bow to her superior knowledge. Laughing I can't recall if she feels hydroquinone is just unproven or if she feels that there's a real danger in using it ... or if it was just overpriced. However, she said that there were other skin lighteners that were as or more effective with less risk/expense. Smile

I don't have sufficient excess cash to be able to waste money on paying for a brand profile [and their advertising, home office overhead etc ... which is what you're paying for with exclusive branding.] ... so I tend to check everything out with the Biochemistry of Beauty site before considering a purchase.

Again, this isn't personal experience with Obagi that I am quoting ... but the opinions of the experts on the Biochemistry of Beauty site ... and Carol really does know her science! Laughing

Thanks so much, Mary. I appreciate that. I just keep feeling that obagi is great for acne, sun damage, but all of the pictures I have seen it does not seem to do much for wrinkles, other than having to use it for 1 year, and that is what they say about Retin A anyway. I hope I can find the site you mentioned, as I would love to read some info1 Thanks again for the help.

Wenrwdy, you have had great results but have only been on this 1 week longer than me, and I do not have your type of results at all. In fact, I don't really have any results except a lightening (very mild) of my already light freckles! Thanks for trying to help! Good luck to you

I was on it a total of about 6 months. Peeled every single day! I did have some lightening of some age spots and a bit of general improvement in my skin. I have a few hairline lines and it did nothing for them. I used the highest strength RAM.

I still use Blender and Clear on occasion, mostly to use it up, but I have moved on to other "stuff".

Thanks donnababe. I was back and forth with what to do, and was going to finish the products I had, but now I definitely will not continue. I tried 2 days off the blender and clear and I had no asthma problems. Last night I started back with the blender and this morning applied the clear, within 30 minutes my asthma kicked up really bad. I washed the stuff off, took my inhalers and am fine. I would like to find something to lighten my freckles now without hydroquinone!

rileygirl....it sounds like you should stay away from the Blender and Clear.

I used the Obagi line, along with retin-a, for several months and experienced good results. My skin became dryer than normal, and I experienced the ugly peelies, but stuck with it. I had a few IPL laser treatments during these months, which lightened my freckles/sun spots dramatically. I continue to purchase and use the Clear at times to maintain.

This is only my fourth week on Obagi and the results have been unbelievable. I peeled like a snake on the second day and have only now gotten to the point where I can make a facial expression without my face falling off on my shirt. However, my skin is incredibly clear and luminous, age spots are faded dramatically and wrinkles are not as deep. I'm certainly not going to say I haven't suffered (the stuff still burns like crazy), but you couldn't pay me to stop!
