Ok, I have been reading different forums, and someone stated that L-ascorbic acid is the only form of Vit C that the body can use. What about all the other derivatives of vit C, does this mean they are not useful? Anyone know? |

It is the easiest one for the body to absorb. Most other forms (C-esters, Magnesiusm Ascorbyl Phosphate, etc.)must be metabolized by your skin tissue into l-ascorbic acid. Once that is done, your skin can absorb it. However, during the metabolization process, you lose potency. For instance, a 20% C-ester might result in a 10% absorption rate.
Hope that makes sense. |

thank you betterat40! Would you then happen to know if one is using a product with a derivative of vit C, can you use copper peptide with that? I have heard that you should not use Vit C and CPs together, but space them at least 12 hours. TIA! |

I have heard that also but I do not know what to believe. I have never used both together because I have been afraid the CP's would ruin my C results. And I can't live without my C!!
I decided that I would use a high percentage matrixyl formula to thicken/firm my skin (similar to CP's). I got the matrixyl from thepersonalformulator.com and mixed it with their oil-free cream base. I made it a very high concentration. It does seem to work.
However, I still think Retin-A is the best for thickening skin.... |

I just "spoke" to someone I consider an expert on this and she said there is actually info going around about using C one day and the CP the next (even with the derivatives). I think I will just stick with the C and RA for now. |
