I remember reading a while back (couldn't find the thread though) That the Copper in the Skin Prep can cancel out the properties in Vit. C, or something to that effect. I started using my Vit C at nite instead and my Skin Prep and ADCE in the AM. I would like to try and incorporate the PSF Retinol Nite repair into my routine and use my C in the AM. Could amyone clarify this for me please. I find it somewhat confusing, especially since the ADCE has Vit. C in it, although certainly not the amount my 20% has. I would really appreciate any feedback on this!! Thanks |

I can't remember which thread it was but I think we agreed in the end that the amount of CPs in the skin prep would be negligible in comparison to actual CP products that have such warnings associated with them. |

I have to disagree. If it is listed on the bottle it is pretty negligable and there is sufficient amount to be listed. When ascorbic serums are made they use water without any minerals at all because even a trace and ascorbic is already degrading. We pay so much money for these products. Why take the chance on a very unstable product to begin with which is degrading day by day even in a stable base. Even though it is clear there is still degration.

I guess the only really "safe" thing to do then, would be to finish up the JB products and incorporate a good moisturizer over top the C in the AM, and again over the Retinol in the PM. I'm going to have to give this some more thought! Thanks for your input. |

sportygirl - most people give 12 hours between Vit C and copper peptides, as they can cancel each other out. There is new talk right now that this amount of time is not long enough and a person should use Vit C one day, and then CP the next (I just heard this today on another forum!). Anyway, I definitely would give 12 hours apart, just my 2 cents! |

I was just thinking that the skin prep is the problem, so I may just use Vit C serum with the ADCE over top and finish up my prep on arms and legs before applying my body lotion. Haven't got that much left so I don"t mind using it up that way. This way I can still use my ADCE which I love, and the little extra C in it won't be overkill. Thanks for the input. |

I looked up the packaging instructions that came with my Janson-Beckett order to make sure of the correct sequence to apply the products.
Step 3- Facial skin prep
Step 4- Vit C&C serum
Step 5- AlphaDerma CE |

Yes, I agree with you in terms of serum formulation but we are not talking about those trace minerals being in the serum itself - so the serum is not unstable. You are quite right - I would not buy a C serum that had any amount of CPs in it because it sits in the bottle together over a period of time and is unstable. From what I understand, products that have a good concetration of CPs are not to be used immediately (i.e. less than 12 hours apart) with vit C serums because they negate the effect of the serum. However, the prep gel has only a very small amount of CPs - nowhere near what a CP product would have I imagine. Therefore, applying that, waiting for it to sink in, and then applying your usual C serum should still be fine IMO.
