I'm wondering if anyone else has used this product. When I first tried it (the night I brought it home!), it wasn't really very warm and humid here, plus I applied way too much and a powdery white residue was left on my face when it dried. But during the last week, we've had some muggy weather and I used MUCH less product when I applied it to my oily T zone. It worked beautifully, plus it also subtly diminished my 11s and forehead lines, although they aren't deep to begin with, but rather fine and superficial.

So, for anyone who needs to mattify their face, I recommend trying this. I purchased the Neutral shade. There's another tinted version.

I've been using it for about half a yr now and I do think that it does control shine and helps make ur foundation stay on longer. I only use it on my nose cuz it's a bit oily and there's still more than half left in the tube. But it does stick to dry patches or flakes, so exfoliate well b4 u use it. Overall, it's a great product if u do have oily skin.

I tried both versions of this, the squeeze-tube and the compact, and was happy with it for a couple of months until I discovered Milk of Magnesia and realized worked a hundred-times better for me at keeping my oily skin matte. I swipe on a very thin layer of MoM, then lightly dust my face with my beloved Jurlique Rose Silk Dust and then apply my mineral foundation and the rest of my “face,” which keeps me shine-free for most of the day!

After that, I tried other silicone-based mattifying products (hello: JI Absence and others) and discovered that none of them perform the way that MoM does for me....

I've been tempted to try MoM--- it doesn't leave any kind of residue at all?

“Phillip’s Milk of Magnesia” is a type of old fashioned saline laxative (!) that our grandparents used in the ‘olden days’ (before there was “Ex-Lax” or “Metamucil” or “Benefiber”). You will find it in the laxatives/fiber/antacids aisle at your local pharmacy or supermarket. It comes in a bright blue bottle – you can’t miss it! It comes in several different “flavors” (mint, cherry, chocolate, etc.), but you want to get the “original” or unflavored formula because the flavored versions might cause irritation to your skin. While “Phillip’s” is the best known brand of MoM, most stores also offer generic or store-brands that are much cheaper (same bright blue bottle!) and it’s perfectly okay to use these instead – personally, I buy the Walgreen’s version.

So long as you apply a VERY thin layer of MoM, it will not leave any residue or white-ish cast to your skin. You smooth it on, wait about 45 seconds for it to dry, then you can apply the rest of your makeup. If, after you apply the thin layer of MoM, you notice a white streak or spot on your skin where you applied it too heavily, just wet your finger with water (or spit if your desperate!) and just wipe your finger over the white spot and it’ll smooth right out.

HTH,
Carrie

P.S. Sorry for the late reply, I've been ill.

I'm really liking this product, especially as I get more facile at applying it (squirt some on my fingers, rub them together then pat over the areas I want to mattify). As it's getting warm and humid here, I'm using it more often. It'll be interesting to see how it works in July/August. I have to say though that I don't like to be totally matte -- I prefer a little dewiness. I just don't want to look like there's an oil slick on my face, and my sunscreen IS rather oily but I'd never go out without it.

Sorry ladies, I'm just not going to put MOM on my face -- ugh, that smell! I get a bilious feeling just thinking about it. I remember my mother giving some to me when I was a child, and I had the dry heaves for a long time afterwards.
