I wanted this for my smokers lip lines and the nurse injected into my lip border, and also directly into the vertical lip lines. She said she was very pleased, other than the fact that I looked like I was going to bruise. It really hurt because the dental block took on 1 side only. I also got botox for my 11's and that was a piece of cake. Anyone have any tips for how to minimize swelling and bruising and also what I should/should not do? She told me no drinking out of a straw or smoking for 6 hrs and after all of that trauma, I am dying to have a smoke! |

Hi rileygirl - After the first time I underwent these procedures (I've only done each about 3 times), I brought a little ice pack along and held it on each treated area afterwards. It helped reduce swelling and I didn't bruise. |

thanks m.april. You know she gave me an ice pack but I was afraid to use it because I had heard you were supposed to touch it! I has been 5 1/2 hours now and I don't hurt hardly at all and I also feel like the majority of the swelling has gone down. I sure hope that is not a bad sign that this is not going to take. I still see 2 vertical lines, but she said I would because I am swollen. We will see. I can go back in 1-2 weeks for a touch up at no cost because I had some left in the syringe! She said I could also use some in my 11's depending on how they looked. I guess I will just keep a close eye on this and see how I do. I will say that this was one of the most painful things because of the dental block not working! |

Last year I had cosmetic surgery and took both Arnica and Bromelain for two weeks prior and one week after. These are natural homeopathic remedies for swelling/bruising. Not sure how I would have looked if I had not taken them though. |
