Is there anything out there that does not turn yellow? Everything is at least $75 and up and you'd think they'd come up with something that would remain stable. Someone had mentioned EmergenC is in an "airtight" pump that helps keep it stable.
OR is it best just to make your own? Is there really a difference? |

I like PSF C serum - it lasts the longest and comes in smaller bottles so you can use it up before it goes yellow and makes it cheaper to buy!
I prefer the 20% version its just made such a difference to my skin but the 12% very effective too.

I've used Vivier Kine-C for a month and half, till now it doesn't turn colours, also I like the texture: not oily, not too watery, and it is absorbed so well. |

Silicone sounds like a good idea to make it last. Revive uses the same idea with their Vitamin C. But it is $300! Never never never. It is even hard to pay over $80 for topical Vitamin C.
Actually Kerbie, who works at a compounding pharmacy,(she also made the DMAE/Hyaluronic Acid serum that I just love)is gonna put together a Vitamin C serum, and in a pump to keep it from being exposed so often. I requested the pump. Without the dif bottle, she charges only $30 for a 1 oz size which is generally the size I see being sold.
Ina case anyone is interested:
www.naturespharmacy.biz You have to call and request it.

Vivier Vit-C serums. Never changed colour and they all absorbed well. |

Re'Vive's Intensite Volumizing Serum texture is more like Skin Medica's Vitamin C Complex - silicone like, but their Booster-C texture more like a lotion. Yes, I bought one. I did not know what I was thinking that day!!! |

CellularSkinRx+ Firming Serum - I've been using it for 3 months now, hasn't turned, and will re-order! I like it better than SkinCeuticals! |

I like PSF 20%--my bottle is almost gone but the liquid is still as clear as it was when I first bought it. Plus it's not sticky and sinks in well |

skinceuticals C + ferulic actually never changed- I had a sample bottle & it stayed clear for months. I think it's the vit e as well as the ferulic that keeps it stable longer. I still like the texture of IS supererum best though-I wrap the bottle in aluminum foil & so far it's working on keeping it clear.
Soemthing to note...I remember seeing a post regarding pump bottles & vit.c serums..the pump mechanism being metal & actually making the c oxidize even faster...I'm not sure & I'm really tired at the moment but I thought I would mention it. I remember thinking that I finally understand why companies DON'T put their c serum in pump bottles since it seems logical for them to do so. |

Vivier, Cellular Skin Rx, PSF and Janson Beckett seem to have been the most stable in terms of color so far. |

I also have PSF 20% I got it at the end of December and it is still clear. I don't like their 12% as much because it is stickier but it is likely good for dry skins. They are cheaper than most a good value.
A pump sounds like a good idea to limit exposure to the air. |

Wow, that is interesting. Well I made my own out of KY "Ultra" and L Absorbic Acid from Whole Foods. Spent $20 and should last a long time. I made a small bottle my old Obagi Pro C and keep it in the fridge for two weeks. We'll see how that goes. Now that I know what goes into it, it is really hard to spend soooo much on such simple ingredients.
Thanks for your responses. Really appreciate it. |

I believe that once a day, preferably in the a.m. is what is usually recommended. At least, that's how I do it

I thought it was meant to last a couple of days on your skin? hence reducing the need to apply daily.. I may be wrong.. |

do you guys store the vitamin c serum in the fridge?
have you guys actually calculated how much the homemade version of vitamin c costs? |

I agree Marina, I recently have been using the SkinCeuticals CE + Ferulic (I switched from SkinCeuticals C + AHA which I used for over 1 year and loved it but wanted to try this other formula) and the color of the CE Ferulic hasn't changed at all and I have had it for a few months. I also use Cellex-C's Vit. C Eye Gel and that formula turns very quickly. By the time I get to the bottom of the bottle it crystalized and it is like rubbing sand under my eyes, ouch! |

i think cellex c's formula is water based thats why it turns bad quickly
i also tried their eye contour gel...its turned brown in less than two months...
and i kept it in a fridge |

I also use the PSF vitamin C and I have had no problems with it at all....in fact I love everything about it.
As far as usage, I use in once a day in the morning. |

Yep, as far as Cellularskinrx/Professional Solutions 12% PG based serum goes, it is absolutely rock solid. Prof Solutions also do a 10% and 25% HA based serum and it is just a joke. Yellow within a week.
I'm trying PSFs 20% at the mo and it isn't too bad in terms of stability, but it has gone a bit yellow after a couple of months whereas the skinceuticals 20% only started to turn the palest yellow after 3 months. Way too expensive for me now though
I actually decant mine weekly into a little dropper bottle and keep the big one in the fridge. I don't know if it keeps it longer, but it feels right
ETA: whooooo spooky! I only saw this cos it was near the top and now it seems the last post was made in March or something? |

you're not mad. there was an insane poster here who was putting a smiley face at the end of nearly every thread trying to accrue enough posts to put her in the highest discount range. besides, i like what you do -- so thank you for the suggestion. i decant as well, but never though about putting the larger bottle in the fridge. |
