Is there a big difference between formulation in face products and ones specifically for the eye area?
I think I read someplace that there is not really, all basically are the same and will work in the same way.
If there is, what is it? Or is it a marketing gimmick to make more $$$$$$? |

The skin around your eyes are thinner than the skin on the rest of your face, that's why you need separate creams for the face and the eye area. |

I think sometimes there is and sometimes there isn't. There are some good gentle moisturisers or lotions that you would be able to use around the eye area, and there are also those that contain too high a percentage of actives to be used around the eye area. However, when I am lazy I do use, for example, the normal Jurlique Herbal Recovery Gel around the eye area (rather than their eye gel) and also use Orlane Extrait Vital (the normal lotion, not the eye one) around the eye area. Eye products should have a texture that does not migrate and get into the eyes and also if we are looking at active ingredients like vitamin c there is usually less in the eye cream, but you know what, I don't always bother with two products because a lot of brands recommend that you only take the eye cream to the orbital bone where I apply moisturiser anyway. The only eye products I know of that can actually be used in the immediate eye area and on the lid are Revive Eye Renewal Serum and the Caudalie Lifting Serum for eyes, oh, and the Darphin eye serums. |

Because I have sensitive skin, I find that if I apply moisturisers too close to the eye area then it will cause milia or blocked pores.. so for some a lighter eye cream/gel is the better way to go. |

I have been trying to cut costs and have quit buying eye cream. I've noticed that some moisturizers work just fine on my eyes but some sting. I guess it depends on the brand - Dr. H rose day cream is just great!! Sometimes your delicate eye area might need a richer cream, so I try to use something more heavy duty on my eyes. |

would you feel comfortable using a body cream on your face? that's how i look at it anyway, especially because the skin around your eyes is finer. I think specific areas need specific products so that they work efficiently. I used to use my face cream as an eye cream and would always feel a little irritated around the eye area, also i did get milia. Once i switched to an eye cream i had no problems.

Sometimes I use my LRP Active Eyes Cream over my dried flaking skin during the day I find that it sooths the dry skin at the same time delivering vitamin C! |
