**um, I'll work on my "condensing info. for posts" skill...tia for listening (advising), hope this may help another newbie diving in like me...
Seven days ago I began OCM...started w/ EVOO (cold pressed) cuz that's what I had in house...my skin took to this right away; really like how it feels and the dewy glow afterwards...need some tweaking though...I'm assuming most everyone has to tweak and tweak to find their oil mix? When I added castor oil about 50/50 at first it was immediately too drying (so strange to be dry and irritated after slathering oil on....I've continued to tweak my combo. diluting more w/ vit. e, jojoba and more olive oil.
I'm beginning to believe my skin is dry...I never thought it was because I usually have a zit somewhere on my face even if it's not noticeable and the pores on my cheeks closest to my nose are a bit large...so I thought I was oily. Though I've haven't gone a day w/out moisturizer in years. Yea, I'm pretty new at this. Of course I could be combo...I might use the castor mix just in the center of my face and pure olive (or w/ jojoba) on the edges and neck...does any one else do this?
I used an aspirin mask and became irritated right away (5 aspirin, lime juice, yogurt, honey for 10 minutes)...not horribly irritated but blotchy red patches; I needed to leave the house soon after so I soaked a cotton pad in red-reducing eye drops and dabbed on my face which helped a lot as it usually does for redness.) When I figure out the oil balance and my face is not dry anymore...I will try the mask w/ less aspirin and less time on perhaps?
Made the dhcc this am...and my skin felt wonderful afterwards...soft, soft...just straight almond butter from bulk Whole Foods. This is a keeper for me...though I was dry afterwards (been dry for 3 days now) and applied vit. e then jojoba). It's strange...my skin is soft on top (from the oils I guess) but tight underneath ~ this is what I'm calling dryness.
So, in conclusion, my skin looks better (softer more glow) after one week of the above mentioned regime...it is too tight but I'm still pleased w/ the results and efforts. I've had one zit this week (not unusual) that came and went in 48 hours (unusual)...my zit's tendencies in the past year or so are to just hang out a bit and not really come to a head. TMI? My friends aren't using these methods yet (they're intrigued but letting me be the guinea pig)...so I'm kinda reaching out and checking in here from my lonely laboratory.
I use Retin-A micro every other night and want to begin C during the day but want to get my oil balance / dryness figured out before I begin. Currently researching the Forum for c-serums, eye cream w/ a decent SPF and "the best" sunscreen for an active mmu wearer living in a hot and humid climate.
Whew! Cyndi K.
39(used to say I was 40 'cuz it was a round number and close enough, but now I'm owning my last year of 30's and relishing it), blonde, green, trying to figure out skin type; combo? dry? sensitive? |

Have you tried the aspirin mask w/just aspirin and water? this is how I do it, and I use 3 aspirin and a few drops of water. It does flake off, but mostly if you talk or move. I just go sit on the couch and try not to move my face until it feels dry My bf always gives me a crazy look because it just looks like a strange, gross white bumpy rash, but it does the trick for me. It does sting a little while it's on, but afterwards I'm LESS red. Go figure!
Also, I know what you mean about dry underneath and oily on top. This happens to me all the time and it doesn't make sense. How can I be disgustingly oily, but feel tight and itchy? |
