I just tried out making vitamin c serum in a pure aloe vera liquid base (I had the aloe vera laying around so I thought I'd just try it. I know it can oxidize quicker, but its not that big of deal to me since I can make a fresh batch whenever.
I added 1/4 teaspoon ascorbic acid powder to 10 ml (2 teaspoons) aloe vera. Shook it vigorously then let it sit for a couple hours shaking vigorously every hour. Then applied a couple drops to my hand and it stung badly!! Did I do something wrong cuz this is only suppose to be a 12% solution and 10% doesnt sting at all for me with the commercial brands?? Or is it because of the aloe vera base?? |
