Pimple that won't go away

I have had a pimple on my chin near my mouth for about 6 months-it comes and goes feels like underground that just won't give-Of course I left it alone and it went in then whil on vacation I picked and now its raised and red-stuff (only a little does come out). Is this something to be worried about-I have facials and they never say anything about it. Just need some advice I missed you all while on vacation Sad

Don't laugh but Jojoba oil works for me! If I have the *underground* thing going on I use it and it brings it to a head so it will go away faster. If I have it at a head I still use it to get rid of it faster. With me it helps to unclog my pores. Everyone is different so try a little, if it doesn't work you can use all over your body or hair! Wink

Try Apple Cider vingar to draw it out or lavender or tea tree essential oil. This usually works for me.

Hi Red Head,
I have the same thing, but it's on my forehead.
The scary thing is I've head it for like 10 years. It flares up about every 3 months and goes away in 3-7 days, depending on whether I touch it or not (I usually try not to).

I've had professional facials, microdermabrasions and acid peels but none of these have helped.

The only thing that speeds up the recovery is Retin-A (just dab it on top and don't touch it).

Going to try Jojoba oil. I really want it to work!

The moment I see one of those cystic pimples forming I spot treat with 40% glycolic acid. I leave it on for 20-30 minutes then rinse well with water. I've been using glycolic for some time...new users should leave this acid on for just 2-5 minutes. The pimple heals overnight. This isn't a good treatment for a pimple that has been "picked" and has broken skin. I use Royal Jelly B-5 for that... a wonderful alternative if you prefer not to use glycolic.

Please be careful. From memory there is a certain someone here that burned her face severly after using a 50% AHA for about 5 minutes.

I actually have very sensitive skin. Some Olay products make my entire face swell up like a pumpkin, closing my eyes into little slits. I've had no adverse reactions to the 40% glycolic acid, but I did start carefully...testing it on the inside of my elbow first then,24 hours later, after no adverse reaction, applying it to my face for 1 1/2 minutes. I slowly worked up to using it weekly for 30 minutes.

No worries-I used Aloe Vera gel and Neosporean (bad spelling on it) and its gone. NOw working on the sunburn part-using LRP moisterizer and anything else that I have like Decelor Harmonnie balm. Thanks for all the input

Several online sites sell 30% glycolic peels.I've made purchases from both MakeUpArtistsChoice and Platinum Skin Care. Was pleased with how quickly both sites got my order out to me as well as with their detailed instructions on use of their products. MUAC sells a sample size of 1/2 oz for $16.75. This was enough for my daughter and myself to do maybe 20 peels. Platinum sells a 1/4 oz. sample size for $11.00 and they always include a sample size of one of their other products (copper peptides, emu oil, royal jelly) with each order. They also sell sample sizes of these products as well.
Remember to do a skin test first!

I have had good results using Retin-A on these "underground" cysts. I used to have one that would come and go on my chin near my mouth. About once each month, it would be there. But, since I regularly spot-treated with Retin-A, it seems to have resolved. I read that retin-A opens up the pore that is blocked so that the cyst or whatever the heck it is can dry up/heal/just GO AWAY!please! And it really has worked very well. I think glycolics are good for loosening up dead skin cells so they aren't there to clog the pores and cause the problem but they cannot penetrate the pore to really open it up. Jojoba oil is known to dissolve sebum so it's possible that it may help but Retin-A with it's much deeper penetration of the pore is the winner in my book. I have also read that Differin (a form of tretinoin) is the best at this.

I get these too...I'm pretty sure it is my makeup that is the typical cause. DO NOT PICK AT IT, because it only creates a scab, and then it will take even longer to go away

I wonder if its not a pimple, but a sebaceous cyst. Before you start doing too much to it, you might want to visit a dematologist.

What is the different between "Pimple" and "Sebaceous cyst"?
I have pimple (I thought) at hair line ablove my ears also.
They did not go out about 4-5 months.
I try many treatment such as BP, Differin, Isotrex and etc.
But they are still be here. Crying or Very sad

I just found this forum, while looking for information about a specific product - and came upon this thread.

After reading your posts, it seemed important to suggest that you do a Google word search for "basal cell carcinoma".

I had three pimple-looking, kind of pearly, kind of waxy, growths on my face. One turned out to be a simple papule.

The other two were basal cell carcinomas -- skin cancer.

Your descriptions could easily describe, it seems, a possible basal cell carcinoma. The only way you will know for sure is to see a competent dermatologist with a good reputation.

What is the different between "Pimple" and "Sebaceous cyst"?
A sebaceous cyst is also known as an epidermal cyst. It is a collection of keratin-like material - usually white, cheesy, or firm - contained in a cyst wall. The sebaceous cyst normally has a small opening that communicates with the skin and may not be very well seen. Sebaceous cysts can occur on any skin surface, but are most common on the face, back or base of the ears, chest, and back.

Sebaceous cysts do not have to be removed unless they are cosmetically unacceptable or if they get infected. An infected sebaceous cyst is red, swollen, and painful. It should be treated with antibiotics and then excised when it is not inflamed. The key to removing a sebaceous cyst is removing all of the cyst wall, otherwise the likelihood of the cyst coming back is high.

ive had the same problem for awhile, for nearly 2 years ive had a scar right in between my eyebrows a little bit over to left side of my nose. well it used to be a pimple underneath the skin, but a big one with alot of white stuff underneath. then it formed a head and i popped it. and i tried to squeeze all the stuff out of it on several occasions. then it left me a scar only it didnt heal up. it looks like a bump right there and a hole still at the tip of it. ive tried messing with it and squeezing it but only a little bit of white stuff comes out. ive tried squeezing around teh sides of it and only a little bit of white stuff comes out. and if i mess with it it gets all red and i can feel it swell up and it dont go away for 5-6 days. but when it goes away it just returns to its original size of that stupid scar with a hole in it. PLEASE HELP ME

I think you do need to see a dermatologist to make sure there is nothing more sinister then just a pimple. The doctor can then inject it with some medicine that would bring it to the surface within a few day, or give you some medication.

I agree with the suggestion to see a dermatologist.

This problem has been going on for some time, and you've likely experimented with many products and could continue to experiment with many more. I realize that people tend to hesitate to make an appointment with a doctor, but this is precisely what dermatologists are there for. Heck, I call mine when I'm having a bad pore day. A half hour appointment should definitely help fix this problem that you've spent months dealing with. If it is a pimple, a dermatologist could, at the very least, inject cortisone into it to nip it in the bud right then and there. Or perhaps prescribe a round of oral antibiotics, to hopefully break this cycle of the returning pimple. Or maybe your dermatologist will recognize that what you are dealing with is more than a simple pimple. Just make certain you are specific and thorough when describing your problem.

Seriously people - there is nothing to fear from the dermatologist.

I recently had the same problem. I've had two zits one on either side of my nose that won't go away. This has never happened to me before. After 2 months I finally bought a product called Bye Bye Blemish and within 3 days the zits are completely gone. I'm amazed!! In fact, today is day three. My skin is clear again!! PSF O2 serum has worked for me on infected sores. I've found two other things to be good. Manuka oil and ellegic acid (get as a powder form Skin Actives).
