I have a Q, mainly for the ladies, but guys can answer too:

Does your man splash? I'm not sure if mine has bad aim or just doesn't pay attention while he's peeing or what.

Our toilet is almost right next to the shower. So I have to step next to the toilet to turn on the shower. The floor there is sticky! Ugh! Usually it gets sticky within hours of me cleaning it.

It can't be from me. Women have no excuse for missing. Squat and release. Very simple.

It happens nearly every day. It would be OK if it were once in a while. Anyone can have an "off" day. But is expecting good aim asking for too much?

Men, who here can't get it in the potty? I know you're out there...

I'm surrounded by them! 3 sons, hubby I even have a male dog. NONE of them can hit the bowl! And have told them all, Sit for cryin' out loud if you can't aim right!

TooInvolved:

I believe all men do that. You don't know how many times those "more hygienic" guys in the office complained about other guys aiming skill. And I went into our man's bathroom once, flooded.

One of my sister-in-law forces her husband sit on the toilet and pee. She said if he can sit to poo then he can sit to pee. And he agreed. But I told her better train her son the "normal" way (he's 4) otherwsite his friens are going to make fun of him all his life.(She's Asian, he's Caucasian) She's lucky, Asian man will never sit and pee.

My son is 4...and I'm just now getting him to stand to pee (he prefers to sit). I keep clorox cleanups beside the toilet. If anyone has a sure cut way to train this little bugger to not pee on my floor, let me know. Exclamation

Oh don't get me started about men and their pee. My problem (probably a whole new thread) is the inability to put the seat down after the deed is done. I don't know how many times I've dropped straight down into the darn bowl... it's a phenomenon that I particularly enjoy in the middle of the night when I'm half asleep. Hardly refreshing. What I can't understand is women that miss the bowl. In public restrooms, I can understand if you're really hygenically concerned and don't want to plop your tush on the seat, but get some toilet paper or a seat cover and sit down for crying out loud! I'm tired of there being piss all over the seat when I go to sit!

I know, I'm laughing myself silly.

My husband, bless him, has excellent aim. He really points his business in the right direction in the potty so that the splash factor is minimal, if any.

My hubby has excellent aim as well but he says there is always a little splashback due to the force of the spray. (learn something new about him everyday, thanks ladies). I asked him how come I've never noticed? He says he cleans it off with a little bit of tissue every time because he has to clean the bathroom!. Laughing

Well, actually, Asian me DO sit and pee.. or perhaps I should clarify it as Japanese men do.

They actually did a STUDY here and something like 33% ( Shock )of men sat and peed and almost all claimed it was NOT because their wife asked them too.

My hubby does (obviously only at home) and I have to admit at first is creeped me out, but once I saw the article about how many do sit, then I was more comfortable. Besides, I NEVER have to worry about pee everywhere and NEVER have toilet seats left up!! SO much better than my first husband!! Rolling Eyes

PS. hubby would just KILL me if he knew I told y'all about his pee-pee habits. rofl

Japan is sounding better and better all of the time. Love those Japanese designers, too.

In the book "Love In The Time Of Cholera" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, one of the main characters, Dr. Juvenal Urbino, rues the day when he's old and his urine sprays rather than streams out of him. He's humiliated that he has to sit and do it like a woman. But it seems from this informal survey that old age is only one reason why men can't/won't aim accurately. Maybe they think it's wussie to be tidy. Or maybe they're marking their territory like animals, and are claiming ownership of the porcelain bowl, as if it were rare Ming.

BTW LandB, after some hysteria on my part because of similar nighttime experiences like yours, I finally "trained" my dh to put down the seat. But the male ego can be fragile, and now I'm awakened nightly in the wee hours (pun intended) by an incredibly loud slamming sound, a sort of last word on the subject: You Want It Down? You Got It Down!

I've solved this problem ladies! I went to Wal-Mart and got a tube of clear silicone in the hardware section an squeezed a bead the length of those little plastic bumps that keep the seat level when it's down. I made sure the silicone bead was about 1/4 to 1/2 inch deep and let it set overnight with the seat up.

Now when the seat is dropped, instead of a CRASH, there is dull thud... the men haven't figured out what i did yet.... Smile

Absolutely hilarious ladies!!! Thank you! This has lightened my day considerably and given me some unexpected 'relief'. Wink

I thought my husband was the only inconsiderate man out there. It is gratifing to know that there others.... Shock....and that it may be genetic.

I have hit my head against it for years with no headway. His explaination is that besides the fact that he is the walking dead until the second cup of coffee, he also suffers from a morning 'male affliction' that hinders 'proper aiming'.

I think it is hog wash, but I don't have the same equipment so I can't discredit him entirely. Smile I think he is just trying to impress me with his...er,'ego' instead admitting he has ADHD or something when he urinates. Embarassed

The godsend is moving to a place with two bathrooms. I have banished him to his own - and only nag when he forgets and uses my bathroom. Very Happy

Track marks are universal too? OMG Shock Shock Shock I'm feeling more of a sense of sisterhood with each posting. It would seem potty training is a life-long endeavor. I must forgive my mother-in-law -- I thought she was remiss in certain ways. But now I realize "you can lead a horse to water..." but you can't make him hygienically fastidious. Even my cats are more evolved, which gives me an idea...
