What do you mean by "slight circles?" I'm not sure that either of your choices would be ideal. Both are usually marketed for melasma, especially the cosmelan. This is not to say that either would not work for hyperpigmentation due to acne scarring. There are too many variables for me to say which would work better. Depends on skin tone, skin type, area of treatment, etc. Have you tried a good AHA product or chemical peel?

I've seen results from both.
A girlfriend had some melasma on her face after having a baby last year. She started using Triluma and now her face is completely clear.
My esthetican (spellled wrong maybe??), used Cosmalean 2 on her chest to get reduce the sun damage. Her chest is really clear, the freckles and sun damage are mostly gone. I don't think she had any acne marks, so I can't say if this works on that.

~ With both products, you have to stay completely out of the sun. I'd suggest, depending on where you live ~ to wait until fall...and you are indoors more. With summer fast approaching its too easy to forget sunscreen, and you don't want to waste your money!!!!

I was researching Cosmelan on a melasma website for awhile, when I was searching for a way to get rid of my melasma (I've since learned to live with it). From the first hand experiences I have read, it's REALLY harsh! As in, you'd better be able to take a few days off of work and just hide out in the house. And some people have had bad reactions to it, in some cases the melasma comes back darker than before they started using Cosmelan. Sounds like a bit of a gamble.
I've used Triluma. It really dried out the area that I used it on and also made it really red and irritated! I used it religiously for awhile, but did not see any lightening. I'm extremely wary of hydroquinone, many have noticed a rebound effect from it, myself included. My spots were much less noticeable before I started using HQ to try and get rid of them.
The best thing for acne marks is TIME. They go away all on their own (trust me, I've had a LOT!). It's better to be patient than to use some harsh products that you don't know how your skin is going to react to.
Just my $.02 Very Happy

I did the Amelan treatment last year (pretty much the same as Cosmelan, but the European name) and had pretty good results. I was a bit lazy about applying the cream every day afterwards though so some of my pigmentation did come back. I just did the mask again so have a face like a tomato as I type this! The redness lasted about a week last time, it didn't bother me much. However, if anyone's thinking of trying this, I'd recommend checking out all the threads on Amelan and Cosmelan on the skincarerx.com melasma board - some people have had absolutely fantastic results, but there are quite a few horror stories of bad reactions there too. I think anyone with sensitive skin should probably be very wary of this - I have quite resilient skin, but also some thread veins which I suspect may be encouraged by this treatment - it just so happens that the pigmentation bothers me more Laughing.
