Is an 8% AHA strength face cream strong enough to make a visible effect? I just bought Kiss My Face's peaches & cream moisturiser, being in need of an AHA lotion without breaking the bank.
Is 8% sufficient??
Thanks. |

I see a difference with a 10% so 8% should still be ok. The effectiveness will be impacted by the pH level of the cream, although I am not sure what the ideal should be. I think it was around 3.5. |

I agree with Mabsy, the AHA's effectiveness is dependent on the pH. If the pH is low enough the cream will help smooth bumps and flakes quickly enough but dark marks will probably take longer. |

I concur with Mabsy and Stardust. The optimum pH for exfoliation is between 3.5 and 4.5 ... anything over 5% and the AHA becomes moisturizing only ... an effective humectant ... but not an effective exfolliant.
Good luck

I also saw good results with an 8%. Neo Strata's daytime smoothing cream with SPF 15. |

I hope this isn't a silly question but how do I find out the pH? I've checked the bottle and it doesn't say anything about it. |

Also in the same Kiss My Face moisturiser, I noticed "emulsifying wax" listed as an ingredient. what exactly is that and is it bad for your skin (kind of like that Pantene Pro-V ordeal?)
thanks. |

Theres a lot of good information at cosmetics cop.com. Look under skin care/exfoliants/which exfoliant is right for me? |
