I am a 33 yr. old man who has suffered his whole adult "shaving" life with ingrown hairs. I have spent so much money on products, shaving utensils, etc. and even has recently considered visiting a laser hair removal office to rid me of this problem forever. Is there anyone who can help me out there? My self-confidence has long been downsized due to this chronic issue. HELP!!!

My husband put a glycolic facial cleanser on his face (and leaves it on) before applying the shaving cream. He did not have a huge problem with ingrowns (mostly razor burn something fierce) but this solved all his shaving problems. The best brand we tried is called "Aquaglycolic" (as a side bar, I also have used their hair/body cleanser to keep scalp clean from product buildup)

I have a male friend who uses Epidermix on his face (he originally did it just for the smoothness) but he said that it helped with his ingrown hairs after a couple weeks. If you dont have access to Epidermx try getting a microdermabrasion cream from another brand/company (but go with a hand applied one not one of those brands that needs a stupid hand held machine thingy)

Hi There
My other half uses TEND SKIN and it has worked miracles for him. It is pretty inexpensive. Every now and then he will get an ingrown hair, right where his neck has a crease.....
Give it a try. Razz

My SO swears by using a face scrub every day day.
Recomended are Dermalogica Skin Prep Scrub and Neal's Yard Honey and Orange Scrub.
Tend Skin also gets very good feedback.

Hey everybody.
I'm really glad that i came across this topic as i recently had a great skin breakthrough when i discovered Bump Down from Barc.
I first got a sample from a street team member, and after i tried it i was amazed at how great it worked for my ingrown hairs and razor bumps. I too had been using Tend Skin, which did work for me, but let's face it...Tend Skin stinks and stings. This Bump Down is alcohol and scent free. it leaves your skin smooth and moisturized. i have since purchased my own bottle at a local barbershop here in brooklyn, and i am so happy with it. i have to shave every day for work, but after using Bump Down for a short amount of time, my skin already looks and feels so much better.
I just wanted to drop the word out there because i have turned some of my boys on to Bump Down and they're all loyal users now too.
i can't wait for more products to come out from this Barc company that hopefully will have more awesome products. the .com web address on the product is getbarc. Check it out!

cleansing your face before shaving helps as the hair absorbs water, thus thickening up and allowing a cleaner cut. Exfoliating your skin twice a week will help with the prevention of ingrowns as well. Biotherem has an extensive mens range, so it could be worth having a look at their products.

My boyfriend uses my Aloette Nutri-Hydrating Mist to shave. Weird but he absolutely loves it and says he'll never use creams again. The mist is a liquid of course in a spray bottle. After his shower, he puts the product on his face & shaves as he normally would. The Mist is 90% aloe vera with vitamins A,C,E,B5 so very good for the skin. He's European so has coarse dark facial hairs. He used to use Kiehl's shave creams which were better than the drugstore creams but would still get some irritation (redness, bumps, etc). The Aloette Mist is the best thing for shaving. I'm considering using it for my armpits/bikini area now. Hmmmm...
