I'm doing a cleanse right now and my skin is wicked aweful. It's hard to tell whether it's from the cleanse or my skin care routine.
Since everyone is different I thought it would be interesting to find out how long it took your skin to purge (from products or a cleanse) and once it cleared, if it stayed clear or bounced around. |

Hello
My skin got irritated a week ago by too much Glycolic acid in my aspirin mask.. it healed in 3 days, flaked and super cleared again in 1 week's time. No scars, I let the redness just sit when it got irritated. It normalized now. So I'd say, my skin purges within a week with Tretinoin treatments at night. |

have you changed anything in your skin care routine??? If not, I'd say its from your cleanse.
BTW, what are you using for the cleanse???? |

Definitely whenever theres a change in your routine or you're using active ingreds your skin will react in some form of irritation. |

it depends on the cleanse, it depends on the build-up of toxins in your body and it depends on how long you do the cleanse for.
good luck.
i would try taking a salt baths (the salt helps draw impurities and using clay masks, or really any mask designed to draw oil/dirt from the face. |

It took me a few weeks when I started my Dr H routine. |

Thanks everyone for responding.
Chrissie- I was kind of bouncing around with skin care trying different samples of stuff for a few weeks and then went back to ocm twice a day. As far as the cleanse goes - I'm using psyllium hulls, chlorophyll, aloe vera, unfiltered apple juice mixed together, followed with cascara sagrada, taken upon rising in the AM. This is done for at least 2 months and I'm in the middle of week 5.
pustekuchen- Taking salt baths sounds like a good idea. That would probably help speed up the healing process.

SusieQ- Does this mean the reaction will eventually calm down and normalize, especially from active ingreds? Or are you saying some people are always sensitive to these things? I'd like to know more about this.
Some days it looks like it's getting better and then it starts breaking out again. So frustrating, however, I think I'm on the right path. |

I would stay with your current regimen Chloe. This sensitivity is usually certain when you change skin care and could last up to 2 weeks until your skin adjusts. There are different formulations of product, plus active ingredients that skin will react too. I would say this will always happen to you unless you use a plain product(s) which most people don't use. Sometimes less on the skin reaps better results. Good luck! |

SusieQ- I totally agree. Less is more. That's why I love ocm. It's very simple, but are olive oil and castor oil considered active ingreds.?
Also, is aloe vera an active ingredient? I've been using this as a toner. |

Organic ingredients such as olive oil, castor oil, aloe vera are natural ingredients. Its the chemically made that are the actives in your skin care. But thats not to say that you can have sensitivities to natural ingredients as well. You just have to find products that YOUR skin won't react to. Its a lot of trial and error until you find something compatible. |
