Cococare - Cocoa Butter Lip Balm

Trust our very own Carekate to find yet another great bargain buy! She sent me this lip balm a little while ago and I have been reaching for it very frequently since. It's a very simple lip balm with a lovely chocolaty scent. It has a soft "melty" texture so it applies really smoothly to the lips and gives a nice gloss for a while as well and, most importantly, it keeps my lips well moisturised though I do tend to apply it often because I love the texture and scent of it. This is not accessible in Australia but Carrie tells me that it sells for about $0.99 in the US. I really recommend this if you are looking for a "no fuss, no mess" type lipbalm - it's great!

Ingredients are: Petrolatum, C18-36 Acid Triglyceride, C18-36 Acid Glycol Ester, Cocoa Butter, Aloe Vera Extract, Fragrance, Propylparaben, Butylparaben.

You can find it at Walgreens, in the skincare/body lotions aisle, in a little plastic bucket on the bottom shelf next to the other plastic bucket containing the bigger tubes of Cococare "the Yellow Stick" 100% pure cocoa butter. Every few weeks, Walgreens has these on sale 3 tubes for $2 so I buy handfuls of them at a time! This is the lip balm that I keep stashed in strategic locations at places that I frequent "in case of (dry, chapped lip) emergencies....

ETA: I just noticed that you buy direct from their website. Not sure how much postage would be and they're also more expensive ($1.25). https://www.cococare.com

They are both used as an emollient, lubricant and thickening agent in cosmetics. I believe they are both animal-derived....

Carrie - you rock! I actually just got back from my PO Box about an hour ago and have your surprise on my desk as we speak. In fact, I am already wearing a yummy banana scented face mask

I bought this the other day and like it. However, I still find Cococare to be better for lips. If you like the Palmer's for your lips then you should see if you can track down the Cococare. I found Palmer's to be not moist enough for my lips (it's great for hands & feet though, and I'll be keeping it in my office), it also doesn't last as long on lips as the Cococare one. My lips were feeling a bit dry after a short while with the Palmer's whereas the Cococare really sticks around and moisturises, and also leaves the lips shiny.

Also, for those of you interested, the Palmer's swivel stick has more of a vanilla fragrance whereas the Cococare has a stronger cocoa smell.

I will second the rave for this balm. Lovely Carekate tossed one in a box of product I got her to CP for me and it is really good. Sometimes I cannot be bothered opening the tube of Gatineau or Babor to squeeze out the balm (how lazy is that? Laughing

) so a quick swish of this over the pout does the trick!

Hi, I see that everyone seems to love this product, I have mixed reviews. I like the effects of the balm, that is it works well in softening dry lips but I couldn't tolerate the taste and smell. Maybe it's just me! I ended up giving it away to a neighbor.

I agree the smell is kind of strange. My bf likes it but it reminds me of baby powder and I'm not so sure about baby powder on my lips. However, it doesn't bother me enough to not use it. I really don't even notice it much anymore thank goodness.

didn't smell like anything to me... my nose must be totally on the blink. Laughing

The other lip balm I have that I keep in the work drawer and love is the Avon Beyond Color Nutralush and Plum Lip Conditioner. My mum had bought one and then got one free, so passed it on. It is just like a lipstic and so easy to apply. Keeps my lips nice and moist throughout the day at work, but not sure if it does any plumping.. Laughing

That's exactly what I expected it to smell like but I can't get past the baby powder smell. There's nothing like your lips smelling like a baby's butt! Laughing

2nd this. I bought this on a whim yesterday from Shoppers. Very moisturizing.

This is the waxy solid version of their Cocoa butter lotion. Its in a chapstick like tube. You can apply to any other dry spots as well! Quite handy!
