I'm about to see someone I haven't seen in 4 years (who I was once madly in love with, btw, but I won't go into the story here!)... and I want to be looking my absolute best.

I've been looking pretty craggly lately, and I would like to do something that's going to give my skin a quick "pick-me-up" and make me look my freshest and healthiest.

This meeting is going to occur next Tuesday so I don't have time for anything huge, obviously... and I don't want to do anything that's going to potentially backfire with nasty side effects.

But what would you all recommend? Just a facial? Maybe a glycolic peel?

I would go in for a glycolic peel or facial. But dont be getting that on the day you are going to meet him. Also maybe a spray tan would be good too, give you a nice bronze glow to your skin.

I recently used a mask from L'Occitane called the Olive Radiance Mask and it gave my skin a fantastic radiance that lasted for a few days. You could try it. I wish you luck...I'll be in the same boat in June when I attend my friends wedding.

Yes but be careful with a glycolic peel. If you have a strong one done tomorrow or Sunday, you'll most likely be peeling by Tuesday. Good luck!

There aren't that many days between now and Tuesday. The "ugliness" from a peel probably won't be gone by then Confused but you'll be radiant a week later. Very Happy How about doing an aspirin mask at home? I've also heard good things about Clarins Flash Balm for giving instant glow.

Yes I think I'm going to head to Sephora tomorrow and ask them about at-home peels and/or masks, and maybe try one of those tomorrow night.

Also, ok, this is ridiculous question that I think I already know the answer to, but is there any way I can lessen/improve the appearance of these g*d d*mn crow's feet!? I mean, temporarily that is (because Lord knows I haven't found any long-lasting solutions in my normal day to day quest). But I see these products in drug stores, stuff like "Derma Freeze" etc that claim to temporarily tighten wrinkles. Any of those at ALL legit? I vaguely recall trying one once and it just feeling sticky and nasty.

I know I'm stressing over this, but I've aged considerably in the last 4 years and I don't want the first thing he thinks to be "Wow, she looks older."

I also know, realistically, there's nothing I can really do in 3 days.

But keep your suggestions coming!

I agree with getting a facial, but make sure you tell the facialist not to do any extractions. Sometimes I'll still have red marks a couple of days after a facial.

Drink tons of water.
Whiten your teeth a little.
Pick out your outfit now... and get a friend to go over it with you.

Most importantly, be in a good mood when you see him. A good attitude can make a world of difference in how people perceive you.

I've heard Dermafreeze does work and also that it doesn't. Either way you'll know within 10 minutes of putting it on; if you hate it return it. Either way you tried, right?

I'd also suggest that you spend the next few days making sure that you drink plenty of water (I drink mine with manuka honey and lemon) - I find that this makes my skin look better.

For, temporary lifts, I think Esther's Secret might be the way to go. There was a lady here who was actually the one selling it and I know that a few of the board members had tried it and had good results. I haven't tried this myself but you can have a look at the details here: faceliftproducts.com/index.html

Also, have a look at previous threads like: http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=2685, and if you search you should find more about it on this forum as well.

As an aside, I find that Valmont Renewing Pack is excellent for a quick pick me up before going out. However, Valmont is quite a hard brand to find. EDS sells it but you wouldn't get it in time.

Btw, you can get La Prairie in high-end department stores. Be prepared to pay a LOT of money though...

Arctic Frost, sold only at Walgreens {comparable to Freeze 24/7} is great for me, to help in filling in what tiny lines I have... 30.00 isn't that much.. And bonus, used continually, it has cumulative results... Some people don't think it works, but it sure has for me, on my neck from sun damage lines... If you don't like it, you can return, no questions asked...

I also have found Reviva DAME Firming Fluid gives an instant lift {altho you aren't going to look 20, darn it!} and their HA serum helps plump you up where you need it.. Again, it works for me...

And I agree with whitening your teeth! Great suggestion!

Good luck, I have so been there.. Meeting old BF's and wanting to look my best! Keep a positive 'tude! Let us know how it goes and what you decide to do...

How about a nice "glow" product for the actual meeting? Chanel's Sheer Brilliance liquid is fantastic for this - just bought it. I'm going to try to post Winnie's review but I usually mess that up, so just search "Chanel Sheer Brilliance" and it will pop up. Good Luck!

I second the teeth whitening! I know it is not the skin but they say it is the fastest way to look 10 years younger. If you can afford it I'd go for the one hour whitening session!

Be careful of how they do they facial. My g/f got one the week before her wedding and on her wedding day her face was a disaster!! I kid you not! Poor girl...

Good luck!

I'd be hesitant about the facial if you aren't used to them. With my first facial, I broke out the next day, made my skin randy. There have been lots of raves about the Valmont Pak, I'd go that route.

Mabsy, does manuka honey dissolve in cold water? Where can I find it?

Not really, although if you shake it well enough (I make mine in a bottle to facilitate this) then it will. However, I actually prefer to drink luke warm water, rather than cold, so I add manuka honey and lemon juice to the bottle first and then add some very warm water (but not hot) and shake that until it's dissolved. Then I top up with more water and shake again.

I get my manuka honey from a health food shop but I some supermarkets in Australia also carry it. Try to buy something with at least UMF+10.
