Hi. I'm have been reading this forum for ages, (and I mean ages) and I LOVE it. You ladies, or guys, should be sales reps because I'm suckered into trying something whenever someone raves about a product. I'm going to have to get a second job. Very Happy
I recently ordered the camellia oil (don't know if I spelled it right) and its okay for night, but when I use it in the morning over my psf vit. c I feel oily. My skin is always shiny anyway but its also dry. I have dry skin around my nose and it gets kinda red and near my chin. I thought this would help with both, you know, help my pores appear smaller but also sooth my dry areas. I just bought some jojoba oil today. Do you think that will work for me better, seems its supposed to help with oil production, and also can I use it during the day? (I know, I know, shut up already,I talk too much, or in this case type, lol)
Thank you to anyone who answers.

Hi razinkane,
If your skin is shiny but feels dry, you might actually have dehyrated skin -- skin that lacks moisture (water) instead of oil.

In this case, oils might not be able to completely correct the problem. But if you have to pick one, between camellia and jojoba, I would say jojoba is a better choice, for the reason that you already know -- jojoba helps regulate sebum secretion. And yes, you can use jojoba during the day coz I have read it somewhere that it acutally has a slight bit of sun protect (but of course not enough to forego your sunscreen Wink )

Hope this helps, and you might want to look into a product that replenish your skin's moisture (water) content...

Hi razinkane, welcome to the forum!

I have just recently been researching various oils for my acne prone dry skin. From what I've read, jojoba sounds like a good choice for dehydrated skin.

Jojoba is a wax and it resembles human sebum; the natural coating our body produces to protect the skin and keeps it supple. Jojoba is skin therapy; our skin loses sebum with age, sun, wind, cold, and the environment. IT Contains protein, minerals and a waxy substance that mimics collagen. Jojoba is perfect for any skin type it has a large molecular structure. Jojoba can help dry or oily skin. Acts as a humectant and creates a protective film over the skin and hair shaft that helps keep moisture in. Does not go rancid.

And here are two other possibilities that get alot of attention on this forum:

Emu Oil - A natural essential oil, emu oil replenishes and moisturizes the skin with a deep penetration.

Evening Primrose Oil - is said to rejuvenate skin cells. Evening primrose is full of vitamins and minerals. It also repairs damaged skin, keeps skin healthy, helps repair sun damaged and mature skin. High in essential fatty acids, a source of gamma-linolenic acid . Astringent and sedative, it is an excellent treatment for dry, flaky skin and skin prone to eczema. Keep refrigerated.

I am new to oils, so don't have much experience, yet. I can't decide between avacado, evening primrose or a mix. I was thinking of purchasing camellia oil. Is it light? Is it greasy?

Thank you for your reply. China pearl, what kind of product would I get to help with my skins water content?
Pnw, camellia oil is light, but it makes my face shiny, even when its all massaged in.. I like it on my decollete area though.

I recently started using rosehip seed oil, it is lighter and it is said to help keep skin young and it seems to keep my skin rather hydrated. Smile
