Y'all, these were are such great novels by John Jakes, and I've always loved the mini-series. However, there was an ad on t.v. yesterday night, to buy the DVD-version of parts I and II. Now, I have the theme song reverberating in my head. AAAARRRRGH!
I've read both books, years ago, North & South, and it's sequel, Heaven & Hell. Very, very good, but also very thick, long reads. Read the books first, and regardless if these are on video or DVD, rent the series at your local shop. Great series.
Addendum: now I'm really, really going to bug y'all, and implant it into your heads too! (nyah, nyah!) Thanks to the Time-Life site, you may also watch the commercial!

I have actually seen the mini series and really enjoyed it but it was quite a while ago. I just had to watch the ad and yup, the music is now stuck!! As soon as I heard it, it all came back - takes about 2 weeks for the music to fade from the brain. |

I am now doomed! Kindly note that characters from the mini-series were in my dream last night, including Genie Francis (Brett) and her character's love interest Billy.
Will have to pop-in to the local video store to see if they have the series, because now I know that I have rewatch it! |
