Well I had a brain cramp the other day and by accident, purchased MAC's Studio Tech foundation rather than my usual MAC Moistureblend foundation.
I must admit that despite my previous bias against a matte finish, I am really pleased with this product and decided to keep it rather than attempt a return.
The matte finish is very natural and doesn't make me look dull and "powdered" like other matte products have done in the past. It has good staying power, applies evenly, and provides a nice base for blush and bronzer. I find that with a light application of Chanel's Sheer Brilliance on my cheeks, I get enough of my beloved "glow."
I'm not ready to rave or review because a blackhead did appear on my cheek, but that could be caused by using a sample of Decleor's Essential Balm or by not sufficiently removing the foundation during my nightly cleansing. I might have become a little lazy with cleansing because I mostly use a tinted moisturizer during the work week that it very easy to remove. We shall see. |

LandB - is this the powder one or the cream to powder?
I bought the cream to powder while in the USA last year and haven't tried it yet but I've been meaning to. The reviews of this are quite good. I also had the powder one (sorry, I get confused with which one is which) and that was good as well but the SA matched me to the wrong shade and it looked too pale and powdery on me.
Here's hoping that your new blackhead friend is unrelated to the new foundation....! |

Mabsy - good question, because the product descriptions for Studio Fix and Studio Tech (the one I bought) are similar. Fix is the one more similar to a powder, whereas Tech contains powder but glides on as an emulsion.
As for color, I did end up with a higher NC shade than with the Moistureblend (can't remember numeric difference right now), so I'm thinking that their shades among products are not necessarily universal. You would think I would have known I bought the wrong foundation when I jumped up a few shades but I was too hyped with getting my mother some new eyeshadows for Mother's Day. She refuses to spare the cash for higher quality cosmetics and I was trying to convince her otherwise... and now that she's raving about her MAC shadows, I think I was successful!

I just checked - I bought the Tech as well (still unopened though). I think I might wait to see how you go with it before I open mine I've got the NW20 in the Tech and years ago I was matched to NC15 in the Fix (which did look too pale/powdery).
Congratulations on convincing your mum to get MAC eye shadows! Your mum sounds similar to mine in that respect - she doesn't spent much on skincare at all (around me she doesn't have to ) but she has splurged out on Alphaderma a few times now. That's about it.
