Hi, all! I have very dehydrated but blemish prone skin. I made everything worse by overdoing AHA last december. My skin was red, blotchy, and very very dry (barrier damage). Since then, I have tried sooo many products, and am still searching. Could you please recommend a nice moisturizer to quench my thirsty skin + repair skin barrier?

My skin is fairly sensitive and can get very dry or oily if it is not balanced...

Currently my routine is:
AM:
guerlain cream cleanser
decleor toner
aromaessence neroli
la roche posay toleriane cream (I could not use hydra floral: itchy reaction + bumps)

PM
guerlain cream cleanser
decleor toner
baume essentiel or toleriane cream (alternating)

& decleor purifying mask, clarins peeling, and avene hydrating mask.

I need a moisturizer which can replace toleriane cream... (it's nice, but very basic)... thinking of decleor harmonie cream or phytomer hydra continue, but would love to hear some suggestions!

Any suggestion will be very much appreciated. TIA!

Hi Kooki~

Have you considered...Primary Care Multi-Tasking Moisturizer SPF 20?

Only at Sephora...

http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P131808&categoryId=C12912

Didn't see C in your routine...

My fav moisturizer for aggravated, dry skin is the Calming BioLipid Repair Creme. I use it in the winter when the indoor heat and outdoor cold/wind aggravate my combo skin. Can't use it in the summer - too rich for me. Check it out here at http://www.essentialdayspa.com/cellular-skin-rx-calming-p_4143.htm

It is great for taking away sensitivity and redness. I also think rose hip oil is very nice as a moisturizer for easily irritated skin.

My skin is similar to yours. The phytomer hydracontinue line was too rich for me. I tried rosehip oil and broke out. Sad I have not yet found a good moisturizing lotion to suggest but there are some oils considered to be non-comedogenic like avacado, jojoba, emu, and evening primrose. HTH

phytomer hydracontinue instant moisture worked for me. I'm acne prone, sensitive and very dehydrated. If you're in a humid climate it might be a bit much though. I find it great for cooler months

Thank you sooo much for all your suggestions!!!

They're very helpful! Sadly I cannot get cosmedicine moisturizer because I'm from germany... (no sephora here Sad sounds so nice with spf...)... But calming biolipid cream/ hydra continue sound very nice (I live in relatively cold/ dry climate). I tried to use jojoba oil as moisturizer and it worked nicely last year, but after my aha disaster, it is not moisturizing enough for my super thirsty skin...

I would love to include C in my regime, but now I'm a little worried because my skin behaves not very normal after my aha disaster (now looks ok, but still dry/ dehydrated). Would it be ok to use C in my skin condition? & could you recommend a nice C product? thanks~

I have similar skin and I have found success with Estee Lauder Day Wear and La Roche Posay Toulerine. I have also just started using a cold cream (Queen Helene) to remove my makeup at night. The foaming cleansers I have been using have been drying my skin....It seems to be working so far. No huge breakouts.

I posted a question a while back similar to this, and this is what I found my skin is loving: I use an olive oil and beeswax with herbs salve that I buy off of ebay from upnorthgirl, which is a homemade salve that does not break my skin out, it does wonders for the tone and hydration of my skin, I mix it with rosehip seed oil and canvas base cream that I get from skinactives.com. The canvas cream has essential oils in it as well as hyaluronic acid and I use it in place of the jason creams I used to use that broke me out or left my skin too dehydrated (since they've started to go crazy with benzol alcohol and stuff like that, I had to stop using their E and hemp creams). I started to see my skin turn pink and soft again after a long stretch of red, dehydrated skin, also I get their kelp bioferment gel stuff and mix it in with the oil and canvas cream as well as a little bit of the salve.

I haven't had any real breakouts since I started using these products and my skin stays softer and more hydrated for longer, also sometimes I add hyaluronic acid to the cream mix as well for an extra boost of healing and moisture-binding. so i guess i am sold on the skinactives stuff since i started trying them this month. I also use olive oil and some whole milk powder mixed with powdered oatmeal to cleanse with, olive oil is one of my favorite cleansers as it gets all the gunk off the skin when mixed with the milk/oatmeal without stripping the skin. I also like to use just a little bit of skinceuticals retinol cream under my DIY cream to get the dead skin cells moving without stripping my skin of essential oils. Smile

Betterat40--is there a specific rose hip oil that you prefer?

I've used Mario Badescu Rose Hip Nourishing Oil and Primaver Rose Hip Oil.
