This is my first post. I recently discovered this site and I love it!
I am standing as a bridesmaid this August. It's going to be pretty warm, so I am worried about my make-up sliding off. In order to save money, I am doing my own make-up. What are some products that are especially good for my needs? It's going to be a long, humid day.
I have combo skin-- my t-zone (esp. my nose) gets pretty oily within an hour after cleansing. But there are areas on my face that get dry too.
I break out on occasion, around my monthly cycle, but these outbreaks barely happen once I started Paula's Choice 1% BHA gel.
I just tried Monistat Chafing Relief Gel as a primer (read it on this forum) as a replacement for a popular Smashbox primer. It helped with the shinyness a LOT. However, my current foundation won't cut it in terms of covereage. I need something that will cover the small marks on my face, even my tone, cover large pores, and cover scars from old pimples/whiteheads.
My eye makeup usually doesn't last long either, and the oil from my skin sometimes transfers liner under my eyes.
Lastly, I am a 26-yr-old Asian-American, so I have a yellowish base tone.
What products should I use? I hear bare escentuals is good. Should I just purchase everything (foundation, loose power, blush, eye make-up) from them? Any advice would be helpful! It seems like there's a lot of combined experience here, so I trust you all more than the wedding websites I surfed earlier.
THANKS!! |

Hi Skim,
Welcome to the forum! I wish I had a more definitive answer for you. When I got married the best advice I got for makeup was from the girls at the local bridal shop. They carried a range of lipsticks with a gloss that stayed on all day without reapplication. I don't remember the brand, but it is similar to Toni Brattin's "Lip Secret" on hsn.com. I'm sure there are other brands like it. HTH |

I recently got married and used MAC's studio tech and studio fix and it lasted all day. A matt finish will make your skin look really smooth and flawless.

I used MAC for a wedding I was in last summer and in all the pics my skin is shiney...even the ones where I'd just reapplied my powder. ugh..I wasn't happy. |

Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation is great, it lasts all day, doesn't rub off, doesn't run if you get it wet, ie rain, you can swim in it, (not that you'll be doing that on your wedding day) and it's fine for oily skin. Apply a powder over the top to set and you should be OK. Eye shadow, you need one that does not crease or need reappling, I love Stila, they last all day and get yourself a WATERPROOF mascara.

First of all I recomend you buy some Urban Decay Pimer Potion for using as an eye shadow base, this works really well on my oily lids and your eyeshadow should last all day.
I agree with MAC make-up for your wedding, before you buy anything though, go to the counter and book a consultation, you normally have to pay but you can normally use the fee against the products.
This way you can try everything out and have the MA all to your yourself. |

see, whereas i had to actually apply a luminizer so that my skin didn't look too matt. i guess it depends on how much oil your skin produces. i had absolutely no shine what so ever
