I recently started drinking 3 quarts of water a day. About a week ago. I normally don't break out, my skin is very clear except maybe around that time of month I'll get a zit or so. It's not that time right now and I broke out. I'm trying to find some imformation about if when you start drinking massive amounts of water, does it flush your skin causing you to break out at first? I really didn't do anything different to my routine! I know drinking water is supposed to clear your skin, but maybe that is a long term benefit? Is this possible that the water is flushing my skin causing impurities to come out at once? I can't find info on this, but it really seems like that is the only case for what is happening. Anyone knowledgeable on this?

I have heard from several people that if you don't normally drink a lot of water, and then start, it may cause you to break out as it's flushing everything out of your system--either through the skin, or, for me, running to the rest room all the time! Sad

I drink about a gallon a day with lots of lemon--not too cold, not too hot!

Yes, water will cause your skin to purge, esp. if your normally not a water drinker. Water flushes out toxins and impurities, and if your system is on overload it can start coming out through the skin. The good news is that it won't last long. Very Happy

It takes around a month before you really notice the difference in your skin and general well-being from drinking lots of water.

I drink my water cold. I know there is little evidence that says your burn more calories heating up the water if it is cold, but that makes sense to me so I drink it cold. Warm water? I don't know if I would like that... I'm assuming there's benefits to warm? I'll look into that. Supposedly your body gets used to all the water and after a few weeks you run to the potty less. I can't wait for that too kick in. I definitely was not drinking enough water before I started this. Okay so I was probably right in assuming the water is flushing my skin if others have heard the same thing. Hopefully it goes away soon because I have not had acne in awhile and don't really have any products for it. *sigh* I can't believe I have to buy some persa gel again.

I too have heard about the benefits of drinking cold water, because you burn more calories warming up the water. Also, I just find it tastes better overall. So I have my brita in the fridge and drink plenty of cold water everyday. I find that when I'm out of the house running errands (or moving like I have been lately) I am REALLY thirsty when I don't get my regular amount of water.

I am a big fan of drinking water... always have a water bottle with me. My Brita pitcher is always on the counter at room temp because I found that I will drink more water regularly rather than if its ice cold. I can guzzle room temp H2O but cold water I have to sip b/c it hurts my sensitive teeth . Of course on a really hot day there's nothing like an iced water with lemon!

I can't remember why but I have heard that it better to drink room temperature water rather than really cold water. I'll have to try to find this out b/c now it has gotten me very curious (and annoyed that I cannot remember).

I've really upped my water intake as well recently. I make sure at the very least that I drink 4 16 oz water bottles a day. I am constantly peeing, but it's worth it b/c I do feel better.

The very first thing I do in the morning is drink a bottle - right after I get out of the shower. I think it helps "move things along" in the potty department Shock

I have read that a warm-to-hot glass of water with lemon first thing in the morning is a great way to flush out any toxins and is just great for your skin.

I also have to drink my water at room temp. Too cold and I get a brain cramp! Except if I'm in a restaurant - then I love a tall cold glass with lemon. I always get one even if I order a glass of wine - I do this so I wont' get dehydrated from the alcohol.
