I thought I should finally place a review on this topic.

I went for several tretments of micro-dermabrasion and cold laser combined. I paid a fortune, yet did not mind as long as I was getting some results. I went to a woman who in the city I live has been doing microdermabrasion since the first machines came out, so she knows what she is doing.

I did not notice any improvement in past acne scarring, lesser pore size, nothing!! What I did notice was chronically unbalanced skin - dry. I noticed a ton of hyper pigmentation spots all over my face ( I have been using Jane Iredale make-up....obviously not a strong enough SPF). I was not happy so stopped treatments.

A friend of mine who is in her early forties, with normal but somewhat aging skin has also been going for treatments. She has been going monthly for treatments, for maybe 6 monts. I notice her skin looks much worse. It looks more aged, thin, dry and very unhealthy. SHe has not changed products and I know she uses appropriate high quality products. I was alarmed how bad her skin was looking. She is an ex-acctress so she is very concerned with maintaining her youthful skin...as we all are!!

In my opinion I do not think microdermabrasion is a good option in regards to an anti-aging regiem. It thins the skin which reduces the elasticity and the collagen content. This results in rapid aging of the skin. One must use a strong sunscreen to protect the surface of the skin, yet most sunscreens are heavy and full of toxic chemicals. The only benefit I can see is for people with very thick textured skin who suffer from skin problems.

I think it is better to use products such as IS Clinical or Aphaderma or other anti-aging prodcut. My friend has recently agreed with me on this point and went off to purcase a ton of IS Clinical. EDS can thank me for my refereal!!!

What is cold laser? I don't know that I have heard of that. The micro's really didn't work for me-had to use such a gentle setting that it renders it useless.

Cold laser is actually the most popular form of laser in Europe. The best product comes from Switzerland. I was told that the Europeans laugh at us in the West who still use the hot laser, as seen in most medispas. The cold laser is suppose to do all these anti-aging things. I had a lot more microdermabrasion and a little cold laser. You need several cold laser treatments to make a difference. I was not impressed. The day of the treatment your skin will feel really tight, but that effect fades after a few days.

The combination of micro and laser ranges around $200 pertreatment - too much money to not get results, especially when you get several treatments!!
