I got my pure luxe foundation samples this morning and immediately tried them. I found that warm cream with a tiny bit of ivory was a good match for me. I used my regular blush brush to apply the foundation which was ok. I think a different brush would do a better job. I also need to work on the application a bit b/c this product isn't supposed to be buffed like most minerals I've tried.

PL foundation has no glow to it which I really like. The glow thing makes me feel like my face is shiny/oily, even though I know it's not.

Coverage is decent. I'll want to get a concealer formula to help hide old acne scars, but otherwise my skin looked great. The wear throughout the day was good. No colour changing and little wear/slip.

I got samples of the tiger's eye and golden sands eyeshadows and I have to say the golden sands is a must have. Nice sparkly neutral, looked great with a hint of black liner and mascara..

Customer service from pure luxe was ok. I ordered and only received a paypal receipt until 2 days later when my order shipped. Supposedly I should have gotten an email when christine printed my order off but I never got one. It is a one woman operation so if you try her stuff be patient and check out her forum on delphi for colour conversions and stuff like that.

Overall, I'll order from PL again.

I like Pure Luxe too. Everything I have tried, looks very natural on. My favorites are the Bronzers (Sun-kissed & Beach Babe). They give me a great "just outdoors" glow. Also I like many of their eyeshadows. I have always found the customer service to be very good. And I love that their samples come in jars instead of baggies.

I got some eyeshadows, blushes and a foundation from pure luxe as well. Smile I want to say I like them so much but I still haven't tried the foundation yet. I got myself warm cream this colour. Hope It suits me. Her stuff is really good and pretty. I want to get more shadows like hi ho silver and purple aura. Smile Smile

I love the little jars too. I tried my last set of mineral samples (monave) last night and wasn't impressed with the little baggies...especially for the blush samples. Great colours for eyes and cheeks and lips, but the foundation just did not work for me at all (white cast and looked really heavy on my skin). I'll try monave once more then review.

Leanne, I'm glad to see you were happy with PL Very Happy I've ordered from Chris about 3 times now and found CS to be excellent. I read somewhere that she had been ill (maybe here?), so that might account for her lack of follow up with you.
This line is excellent - I love her shadows, and I've been happy with the foundation, blush, erase, and concealers.

Anya,

I'd heard she was ill a while ago too. I'm not disappointed in her service, but I see on other boards that some people are. I suppose I just expected one of those automatic confirmation emails that most sites send out.

What type of brush do you use to apply the PL foundation? I've been using a blush brush but it's not doing the greatest job. Someone on chris's forum recommended japonesque but they want $45 at the one place where I found it. Too rich for my pocketbook at the moment... Smile

I'm definitely ordering a full size of the PL foundation. Just need to pick out some more sample colours. Which are your favs?

Leanne you get the best results with a Kabuki brush, so if you don't have one, you gotta put it on your shopping list!
I have fair complexion and I had emailed Chris for colour advice - she recommended Buff and Babyface with Beach Babe as a blush. I have to say, she was bang on, both these colours are great Very Happy I find PL gives good coverage and has staying power too. I also got the full size Heather Mist eye shadow (in addition to a gazillion samples), Perky Pink for under eyes and What Red (powder) - although I find it doesn't give 100% coverage on my broker capillary. Erase is good too for those fine lines above the lips - although you're probably too young to need it Very Happy

Anya:

Isn't Beach Babe awesome? I use it as my blush and eyeshadow on days when I want to look very natural....but glowing. It is one of my favorites of the line.

Also love the Tease shimmie. Oh and the Radiance is nice too.

I feel a the urge to do a Pure Luxe order. Maybe try a few new colors and replenish some of my favorites!!!!

Anya,

You really use a kabuki? Chris says to use a 'fluffy brush' and not to buff. I thought kabuki brushes were for buffing? Question

I never thought to use Beach Babe as a shadow - thanks for the hint Mom2Tommax, and yes, its a great blush - in fact I'm wearing it right now Very Happy

Lianne, I've always used a Kabuki to apply MMU foundations and I've been buffing PL all along Shock If I used my fluffy brush for foundation application, I don't think I'd get the same coverage - but hey, I'll give it a try.

anya, That's what I read on chris's forum! Her instructions say 'fluffy brush' too. I dunno, whatever works, right!?

I have found that applying Pure Luxe with a flat top or kabuki accentuates my lines and wrinkles and makes my skin look dry and cakey. Using a fluffy brush works much better for me but requires several coats to get the coverage I need. I also spray my face with a light misting of water between layers for an airbrushed finish.

Well whaddya know, I been doin it wrong Razz I've been happy with the results using the Kabuki brush, didn't notice any emphasis of my "fine lines and wrinkles" ,but I have a fantastic soft fluffy brush that's hopelessly under-utilized ......... Wink

Actually, I got mine from QVC. It came with the Fusion Soft Light Color for $28. I see it's on sale now for $26.81 - includes the brush. Great deal. Item Number: A68115

Lianne,
My samples did come today! I tried them and the maize and warm honey were too dark/yellow and the warm cream was almost right (probably the closest I'll get without mixing). I think it might be a tad too yellow and need a tiny bit of pink to it. Did the ivory add pink or lighten it? I use BE light #2 right now. I'm really wishing I had ordered more samples now. I'm going to check tomorrow during the day outside and see how warm cream looks. I also got the banana split and what red correctors. I think I like the banana, but the green was still obvious to me under the foundation. I did like that it seemed to be matte. The 'pearlyness' and itching from the bismuth stuff in BE were what I didn't like. Hopefully PL won't itch, too! Sorry, I'm sure everyone doesn't want to read all this, but I was so excited to get my samples I had to share.

cloud_9,
You might want to try mixing in some Buff or creamy natural (I think it might be a touch lighter than buff). They are more neutral so it'll take out a bit of the yellow. I'm quite yellow toned (I can wear the same foundations as my pale asian friends.) I haven't had any itching in the 3 days I've been using it. Itching was a problem I have with jane iredale.

Does the banana split help cover zits at all? I don't like using green concealer - It always seems to show through. I've also looked at the apricot enhancer, it looks like it would be a good one for acne scars.

If you order more get samples of her eyeshadows, they're really generous and such beautiful colours.

Penelope, unfortunately I'm in Canada so QVC wouldn't work. I checked out shopping channel but they don't have the same deal Crying or Very sad

Lianne,
I didn't try the banana split on zits, but I will and let you know. I'm definately going to get it for circles, it works great for those. I tried the warm cream today in sunlight and I think it's actually too dark instead of too yellow (maybe a little too yellow too?). I think you're right that I should mix a neutral in. I tried to mix a little banana split in and it definately helped. It's so fun to have someone trying the same stuff and being able to compare! This is why I'm addicted to the forum after only posting a week (I lurked awhile before that). Thanks for all your help!

no problem. I usually wear mac nc20 if that helps you figure out if you should be adding in the ivory or buff/creamy natural.

I've been addicted to this forum for a year and a half now. I haven't been on that much the past few months as I'm broke and really shouldn't be buying stuff, but I just couldn't take it anymore. At least PL samples are affordable. I saw some almay stuff my friend bought at the drug store and I just thought of how much better this stuff is for the skin and how it's really not much more money.

Today I didn't want to put on makeup (plus I'm almost out of BE and haven't decided on a replacement yet!) but I needed to cover my undereye circles, so I used my concealer brush to apply some pressed powder on them. I realized how perfectly it matches my skin (even better than the BE I'm using) So anyway, I thought there was a remote possibility that someone might have experience with both my pressed powder color and pure luxe. (I know, a long shot, but the color is PERFECT) It's Clinique gentle light pressed powder in "01 Gentle Glow 2". Side note- I tried to do a search on it and am having trouble finding info about it online. The nordstrom website said it it currently unavailable. I hope they don't stop making it! I guess if anyone knows of a drugstore brand of pressed powder that is the same color that would also be helpful. Thanks!
