I have dry to normal and yet acne prone skin. Which type of french clay, namely green, red, yellow, pink would be suitable for my deep cleansing purpose?

As I am concern that some of the clay mask could be too drying on my skin, I would really like to know if which of the above type of clay can deep cleanse and not over drying for my skin.

I have receive conflicting answers with regard to green clay, some say it is for all skin type and some say it is for oily skin only. Really confuse now. Question

This was posted on a different thread, but don't know how to post the link, I copy and pasted it. Sorry, I forget who the author was already (I need to go to bed Laughing )

Bentonite Clay: This is a soft moisturizing clay, used as a suspending agent, emulsifier, thickener, binder and absorbent. Used in natural beauty products for oily skin types. Is used in facial masks to draw out impurities in the skin that can cause Acne and Pimples. Especially good for oily skin. Makes a great addition to shaving soaps to give a glide to the razor.

French Green Clay: One of the most widely used medicinal clay in the world. The structure of the clay allows for a high level of absorption and is a very good clay for helping Acne and to balance combination skin and to normalize oily skin. Best used for oily skin and hair types. Use once a week when using in Facial Masks. Can be used to add color to soaps and to help with facial cleansing as well as in a Shampoo Bar.

Red Clay: Is less absorbant than Green Clay but is a very cleansing clay. Helps draw out excessive oils from the skin and hair. Helps with bringing more circulation to the skin. For Normal to Oily skin types. Use once a week when using in Facial Masks. Can be used to add color to soaps.

Rose Clay: Also known as Pink Clay. This is a gentle clay that gently expholiates the skin and helps bringing more circulation to the skin. For Normal to Dry skin types. Use once a week when using in Facial Masks. Can be used to add color to soaps.

White Kaolin: These are the lightest and mildest clay and are the most gently on the skin. It helps to balance the skins moisture levels and acts as a mild cleanser. Is said to not draw oils from the skin. This is a gentle clay that gently expholiates the skin and helps bringing more circulation to the skin. Can be used in making natural body powders along with facial masks. For Dry to Sensitive skin types.

Clays are fun to experiment with.. there are also olive, black and blue clays..

I find the white kaolin to be an efficient face mask, it does cause dryness and draws out impurities/sebum if you actually let the clay dry on your face - you can tell because there are darker spots against the dry clay where your pores are. The green one can be quite harsh if you use it straight and let it dry out.. so its better to wash off while it's moist.

Oh how about red clay then, since green clay might be too harsh?

I would try pink clay (if you can find it) or white kaolin clay. I haven't tried the pink but it's supposed to be the most gentle.

Kaolin is much milder, in my opinion, than either red or green clay. Also--as miranets mentioned, how you use it is key. Leaving any clay on until it dries rock hard is probably going to dry out your face.

One option, if you want to leave the clay on longer, is to keep spritzing your face with water, or aloe juice, or something like that to keep the clay moist while it's still on your skin.

I love french clay. I have tried a red clay and it did nothing for my skin. My skin is combination with some dehydration. REN make an awesome clay mask which has french clay as the main ingredient. It might be a bit drying, but I put on a moisturizer mask (DrH firming mask) afterwards to counteract dryness.
