I really like Neutrogena build a tan as far as drug store brands go. I prefer the lotion to the foam and like the one that is not the bronzer because I find that the foam and bronzer tend to streak more. Make sure you are very careful around your hands and palms. I have always ended up with a very even looking tan with this, except that I can sometimes notice it around my fingers.

...A wonderful non drug store brand that I have just recently come to love is St.Tropez with the exfoliater that they also have. I have had no problems with streaking with this sunless tanner either.

...Just as a tip for whatever tanner you decide to go with I would make sure to use a body exfoliant in the shower first because that will decrease any chances you have of streaking or having orangy spots. Good luck!

Bain de Soleil Streakguard Foam is the best drugstore one in my opinion. I've used it for years and I recently read in an article that the chick on lost, Kate, uses that stuff.. and she's got a pretty nice tan.. and that's the color it turns out on me too.. a real natural color opposed to alot of other drugstore brands.

i have used several diff drugstore brands and the ONE that blows them all out of the water is st tropez--it lasts so long, is streak-free, doesn't smell too badly, and doesn't rub off. it gives such natural color!

BCgirl - Since you're in Canada you might want to check out Neostrata Sunsation. It has awesome reviews on MUA and it's readily available in drugstores there, at least from what I can tell by the reviews. Unfortunately it is not available in stores in the US so I had to order mine online. It should be here any day now so I'll let you know how it goes.

Is St. Tropez available in stores now?? I think I saw it at Ulta before but I've never seen it in a drugstore.. haven't checked in awhile though. And yes, St. Tropez definitely blows all of them out of the water, but it is a bit more expensive..

I've been using Clarin's "Liquid Bronze" for a week and really like it, but I wish I'd known about Neostrata beforehand.. Smile

After the reviews last year I finally got my hands on Jergens Natural Glow. I LOVE it!!! I used St. Tropez for a few years. While I liked it very much I found it messy to apply. Jergen's Natural glow goes on white and gradually as you continue to apply gives a lovely natural tan. I have had no problem with streaking. Last year it was almost impossible to find at CVS but I have had no problem this year. I use the medium shade. CVS's 30 day money back guarantee is awesome.

Here you go:

http://www.makeupalley.com/product/showreview.asp/ItemID=30768/Self_Tan/Neostrata/Self_Tanners/

It's just listed as "Self Tan" for some reason. From what I can tell from the reviews, Neostrata has 2 kinds of self tanner, the Sunsation and the other is Exuviance. From the descriptions, I believe the poor reviews are all related to the Exuviance one. I wish people would specify if a brand sells more than one kind of product, but then again I guess they just don't know there is more than one version.

HTH! Very Happy

St Tropez is at Ulta and at most beauty supplies... it is a bit more expensive than others, but since it lasts longer and fades elegantly, it is well worth it in my opinion. I use the foaming bronze and it looks so natural and it much easier to apply than the regular product... i think it is the best option for olive or pale skin, since it does not turn you orange.
i tried one of the new 'natural glow' products (from Dove) and the smell was so strong, it screamed "self-tanner" and it also felt cloying chemical on my skin--never again!
You can check out my pics on MUA to see the color st tropez gives me--I use it once a week all over my face and body and it is a dream. I use sunblock religiously so the color is entirely ... fake!
Best,
avalange

Avalange, you do NOT look 30! I thought u were my age (I'm 22). You have very cool eyes, I'm jealous. And in the second picture you're a great example of St. Tropez Very Happy

oh, phoebe, you just MADE my day! Very Happy
in the last year people have been confidently guessing my age (they shoot around 28-29)... Confused although inside, i'm still 22, like you! and yes, I am a proud demonstration of the vast superiority of st tropez over other self-tanners... i went to mexico in early february and only sunbathed while swimming, but other than that, my skin HAS NOT seen even a ray of the sun since then!

I'm not sure if you have a Bath and body works in your area but that is where I got my St. Tropez. I got it in a box set with the lotion, self tanner and exfoliater. It was, I think 39 dollars, so not a bad deal. I don't use it often, probably once a week, so its not horribly expensive if you look at it that way.

I like for a drug store brand for my body - Jergens Natural Glow and for my face Lancaster. I really did not like St Tropez,it was way too dark.
