Hi im new to this forum, and finally deceided to post . I have had a flushing problem in my face for a few years my skin now and has got very senstive and i react to alot of products on my skin, I have clear skin and only problem is i flush alot and my skin is senstive. I have not been dignosed with Rosacea but does relate to me. I do eat very healthy to cut out alot of foods that trigger me off, Does anyone have the same problem or Roacea and what skin care do you use? I have found a site that sells products for senstive skin there products are called SYNCHROROSE and wondered if anyone has tried any of these by that brand name?
Be grateful for any replys on your experiences with products by Avenue (think spelt rite) as is meant to help senstive skin as also not tried any of their products yet but want too
thanks sarah |

I have Photofacials or IPL's for my rosacea. Just recovering from my 4th last Tuesady. I use IS Clinical Proheal and Hydracool, and it does not irritate at all. I also wash with Cetaphil. There are SO many products I cannot use and that my skin reacts horribly to, which is how I found the Proheal and this forum. I still am a naughty girl and try WAY too many samples and then have to start over letting my skin adjust when it reacts in a negative way. Also, the Kinerase line is good for sensitive, rosacea skin types. |

I don't have rosacea but do have very sensitive skin. I use Kyra (from Canada).I've heard many people like Rosacea care products. They're good for sensitive skin even though they're made for people w/ Rosacea. You can get trial kits at their website. They all smell clean and seem to have no irritants in them. A friend swears by them HTH Bethc |

Like Bethc I don't have rosacea but my skin is sensitive and will get red very easily. I'm using moisturisers and a cleanser from the La Roche Posay Toleriane line that's meant for sensitive skin. They're fragrance free and the ingredients list is comparatively short.
I haven't heard of the Synchrorose brand. From the name it sounds like something developed for people with rosacea. Nor have I heard of "Avenue" brand. Do you mean Aveeno, the drugstore one with colloidal oatmeal? Or there's Avene, a French brand that has products supposedly geared for rosacea. I've tried some Avene creams and there's something in them that doesn't agree with me. Either it does nothing or it irritates my skin.
ETA: Bethc - what's the website for Kyra? |

I have struggled with horrible rosacea-skin flushing, bumps and skin thickening. The only thing that has helped me is the Candela V-Beam laser and Zia skin care products-as of today I have really nice skin. Also the Skinsceuticals sunscreen is a godsend. I'm still working on getting the right moisture levels. I did get sucked into buying Rare Minerals and used it last night. So far I just dont get it, I used the clear and it made my skin look dry and pasty(appearance only) and I didn't see any improvement over night. BUT I have only used it one night and my skin is looking pretty good right now anyway. One thing I have learned I can not have extractions done on my face-by anyone. My capillaries are too fragile and they rupture leaving a worse mess behind. |

OOOOPs I forgot my Azelex. The stuff is awesome, but needs to be used awhile before you really see a differance. FYI it is great at eliminating post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, in other words it gets rid of that red dot you're sometimes left with after a big zit has healed. |

I used Aesthetica Med Spa and APSI Skin care clinic in Austin. Sorry, I don't know the brand of PhotoFacial machine, but it is a DR. Bitter approved if that helps. I do always have side effects but they go away in a few days to a week, like swelling, bruising, depending how bad my caps are. But I always love the results!! |

Sarah19 - I've got dry skin too. I'm using the Toleriane Fluid moisturiser which is very light but gives me enough moisture most of the time other than in the middle of winter. Right now I'm trying LRP's Cicaplast which is a silicone-based gel-cream. According to the tube it's an "Epidermal Recovery Accelerator Irritated, distressed, or post-procedure skin"
So far I have no problems with it and my skin does seem less red and more soothed after a few days' use. I don't have the box with me but I remember it's got copper in it so that would provide the healing. |

I also have rosacea, and had photofacials a little more than a year ago. My skin still flushes when I get hot...but it's a lot better than it used to be. I have this book by Paula Begoun called "Don't go to the cosmetic counter without me" and she has a dictionary of ingredients in the back. I suggest you familiarize yourself with ingredients you read on products, because I tried looking for rosacea products and found a lot of them that were meant for our kind of skin really had a lot of harsh irritants;( I wash my face with cetaphil gentle cleanser and use a mineral sunscreen for protection. Also, i use paula's choice recovery moisturizers and cetaphil lotion on and off...and mineral makeup is all I use for foundation. |

What's Azelex? I like the sounds of it. Also, I'm excited to hear that the fotofacial machine actually works on rosecea because I'm having that done in the future. yay! |

My hubby has had 2 Ipl's so far and a yag laser on a couple of nasal veins. It really helped his skin with rosacea, but am having a hard time getting him to go back because of the pain factor. It is the BEST by far I have found for treating rosacea and I will continue to go back every year for a maintenance once I have had my 5-6. It's just hard with the downtime for me, I'm not a "lunchtime" treatment candidate. The redder or more rosacea you have, the more of the pain factor and side effects is what we've been told. |

i dunno about that. When i got mine done i was pretty red, but i'm so fair skinned that they had to put me on the lowest setting. They slowly went to higher settings as i got more treatments, but I only got slight stings..my skin was Soooo red afterwards...my sister is darker than me so they put her on really high settings...she said it was very painful. So really I think the it depends how high of a level they put the machine on. |

That's true about the settings also. Mine is up kind pretty high and it does hurt, but not intolerable. I also had a very light numbing cream and no additional pain medication other than arnica, so that did not help lessen it any. |

8 weeks and you are still puffy and flushed? That doesn't sound right. With the candella V beam I had serous drainage, scabbing, swelling (monster face), but looked great by day 10. |

I am now at the end of the first week. No more flushing, puffy, etc. love it and I have VERY sensitive, overreactive skin! Will do it again even with the pain. If you are still having those symptoms, something is not right. |

yeah i know its crap i have had 3 treatments too so shouldnt be happening i think i am definley let it calm down though before having any more done to it prob wait another month and then see someone else as i think the quatrum was 2 harsh for my skin and have heard the lumesis1 is and yag is gd for flushing, do either of you cut out foods as they trigger off the problem or are you taking any tablets that help? |

I know what the trigger foods are and I limit them but not cut them out. I do no longer drink red wine (which is so much better for me than white), as it really seemed to trigger it. I don't take anything, although prednisone and antibiotics are sometimes prescribed. I would rather have the IPL's, even with the expense and discomfort than have to take medication. |

Oh...I was going to get Fotofacial for my skin, and she said one time would do the trick, but what state will my skin be in afterwards? She never told me what the after effects would be. |

Well that is really hard to say, you may be fine. My hubby never has a problem. That's great that you only needed one so if you are in that good of condition, your down time may be less. I was always told, more caps, more bruising and swelling, but that's me. |
