Ok, this is a face emergency. I have a HUGE cystic acne spot coming up on my chin. What can I put on it tonight to help minimize it?
Thanks so much for your help.

man oh man! I know what I'd put on it, but that's because I own the product (Mario Badescu's drying lotion) which would fix it in a jiffy.
So I'm curious to know the response to this as well, my dear Liz!...in case I don't have that on hand.
This is a great topic...do you have any acne spot treatment on hand? That might work...otherwise...I'm not sure.
Oh goodness I'm no help! |

My husband was laughing at me for posting this question and now I am annoying him because I am digging through all of my drawers looking for remnants. I haven't had cysts in years, surely not one this big.
This is what I found in my closet:
Yonka Juvenil and Creme 15
Decleor Ylang Ylang Balm
La Prairie Blemish Control Gel
Ole Henrikson Blemish Attack
PSF O2 Serum
Clindagel (topical antibiotic)
Now I am going to dig through my sample drawer. I like MB Drying lotion too. I used to always have it on hand. Lately, I haven't needed to spot treat anything and the lotion was drying up so I tossed it and didn't replace it.

Liz,
I have tried this before with great success so I hope it will work for you... I microwave a cup of distilled water until boiling (about 90 seconds) and then I take a clean washcloth, dip an edge in the water and hold it on the cyst until it cools and repeat this process for about 15 minutes. I have done this at night before bed and have awoken the next morning with it considerably smaller and less painful. HTH! |

These are some things you can try that you may have on hand:
Tea tree oil
toothpaste (the paste not the gel)
something with glycolic in it
Good luck!

I would try the hot water & washcloth trick (look up the Zeno machine on the web for explanation why heat like this could help) and then put the Ylang-ylang balm on it before you turn in for the night. I am not sure about your other products - be careful not to overdo - multiple products could make the situation worse. |

Thanks for asking! This has actually been the quickest disappearing cyst that I have ever had. Monday, it took up my whole chin, and today it is just a little red spot. Pretty amazing, I must have done something right. Basically, in the morning, I put on my clindagel, then la prairie gel. At night, I put on clindagel again and periodically throughout the night, I put on yonka juvenil. Before I went to bed I put on Ole Henrickson's blemish attack.
I also have a rave for kevin aucoin's sensual skin enhancer and everyday mineral's concealer. I used this at the beginning of the week because my chin was very red. It stayed on flawlessly through my 90 min hot yoga class. I didn't have any other makeup on, and my chin looked natural.

Tea Tree Oil...every hour dab a little on. That is what helped my cystic acne on my chin. My husband's grandmother told him to put honey on his zit and put a bandaid on it overnight...it really helped too. Visine really does "get the red out" of a zit before you apply concealer.
Good luck! Just DONT PICK! |
