Hope you all had a great Mother's Day...
As is tradition in my family, my three sisters and I spent the day with my wonderful mom, and we drove to her place today as the weather has just been horrific here in New England and we didn't want her driving to meet us anywhere. It has rained, and rained, and rained, for five straight days now - with the next severals days forcast calling for........RAIN.
Sooooooo many streets are completely flooded - many are closed....it's CRAZY!! I've never seen anything like it. My daughter is jumping around like a crazy kid as the news just told her what we all loved to hear as a kid.....NO SCHOOL TOMORROW!! Lucky little bugger.
It took us forever to get down to my mom's as we had to take various detours.
All in all, we had a great day with my mom, sharing memories and hanging out. She's an amazing woman, no doubt.
So, hope you all are staying dry and had a great day.

Maria,
Just checking in to see if you've suffered any flooding in your home. I've lucked out so far (thanks to re-sealing my foundation a few years ago), but I know some others who are going through a difficult time.
I visited my parents about 2 hours south over the weekend and it gave a new meaning to the concept of hydroplaning.
These are the times when I ask myself why the heck I live in New England! |

Y'all need to send some of that wet weather south! We are like the desert here in Florida. Grass is turning brown, ponds and lakes are way down, and we have been having quite a few fires as well! I actually really miss the rain, it seems I have not seen it in so long! I should be careful what I ask for though, hurricane season starts next month! |

Maria - sounds bad! I'm just thinking of all the little bored kids staying indoors and driving their parents crazy Not to mention, of course, people who have suffered damage to their homes.
Meanwhile... many thousands of kilometers away.... Brisbane is about to head into level 3 water restrictions |

Yes, Mabsy - this has been really crazy! Of course it's raining today as well. I don't think the water has anywhere else to go! Our Home Depots and Lowe's are out of pumps and wet vacs! Lyss is home again today....she's loving life right now, but she'll be complaining in June when she has to make up the days lost of school time at the end of the school year. No kid wants to be in school when it's sunny and 80 degrees in June! Speaking of the sun, please refresh my memory on what that looks like - some big orange ball of some sort? My memory is foggy as it's been so long since I've seen it!
Water RESTRICTIONS in Brisbane? Oh my goodness!

Maria - I hope it fines up for you soon and you're reminded of what the sun is like I imagine that it would get very gloomy after a while in weather like this. No to mention humid and icky in general. Meanwhile, if I could send you "our" sun I would (well, for a while anyway). The dams are down to 30% - I guess the glass half full way to look at this is that I don't need an excuse for why I didn't wash the car - it simply won't be allowed soon |

I found myself sitting in front of the TV this weekend watching a golf tournament (which I never, ever watch) just to see the sun.
Funny thing is we were going to start construction on a small pond in our backyard but nature has taken care of it for us - I just need to open my window and throw out some goldfish and we're all set. |
