Hi,
I read somewhere on this forum about the parfum artist (Olivia Giacobetti, also created one for dypthique?) responsible for the aromas in caudalie's products...
Does anyone know any more on that subject, and where I can find more info(I am addicted to Caudalie's wonderful smells...)?
Thanks!

Hi jzainoun, (I had to check my spelling for that...) I believe you might have read my post and it is correct that Olivia Giacobetti created the scents of the Caudalie's products. In addition to that she also created Fleur de Vigne for them, the alcohol free energizing fragrance. Her most famous fragrance creations are Philosykos for Diptyque and Eau de Lartisan for Lartisan. She is famous for her signature light touch, creating scents that have a transparent, dewy quality. I can tell you more fragrances by her if you want. |

Philosykos is my *favorite* scent from the Diptyque line. I think I need to check out the Fleur de Vigne.... |

Until I read that 1st post by smoothskin, I'd never even heard of Diptyque!
Smoothskin, you're really good at describing fragrance!
BTW, How did you find out that she created Caudalie's fragrance?
Also, how would you describe Philosykos?
I fell in love w/ caudalie's fragrances b/c of their Fluide Hydradant Bonne Mine IP8 (SPF8 Moisturizing Fluid), which I think is still my favourite scent (Ever!), but I also love the smell of the Creme Tisane de Nuit (Total Night Care), and, of course, the Fleur de Vigne, which is the only fragrance I wear! |

FYI, Philosykos is a *very* green and also figgy scent. |

Hi jzainoun - I find this thread particularly interesting and ironic because I JUST started using my first Caudalie product last night (Radiance Serum) and I really enjoy the fragrance! The only other brand of skin care whose products' fragrances have struck me is Decleor. I'm not very savvy about scent and appreciate Smoothskin's knowledge about Olivia Giacobetti (always loved the name Olivia) and her other creations -- I'd love to hear more! A light touch and dewy quality -- that's for me! I never buy myself scent but have always left it to my husband. Between us, his choices haven't always captivated me.
I know from past reading here that Mabsy is a great aficianada of fragrance and so her endorsement of Philosykos for Diptyque is compelling too. If I can't find a local store that sells Fleur de Vigne and/or Philosykos, I just may buy them on faith, scent unsmelled! |

Wow, now i've got to find Philosykos!!
If any of you (esp Mabsy) have tried the Moisturizing Day Fluid, would you say it is "green"? Otherwise, how would you describe the scent, and are there fragrances similar to it?
(i'm not very good at characterizing scents, so I'd love some help)...
Also, where can I find Phylosikos (I've only seen Dyptique candles on the net so far)?
Like m.april, I'd love to hear more on Olivia Giacobetti's creations... and I rarely wear perfume (or consider purchases), but sometimes a scent can be so captivating and even strongly impact one's disposition...

jzainoun, I don't know wherew you're based, but here in the UK they sell the Diptyque fragrances in Space NK. I was in there today and tried out the Philosykos - gorgeous! I'm not very good at describing fragrance, but it is very fresh and green with a kind of figgy scent that does remind me a bit of the Caudalie line. |

Anyone got some pricing on the Philosykos in the US or Australia? It is 6500 yen for 50ml here in Japan (about US$55) and 9450 yen for 100ml (about US$80)
As for the Caudalie, I ADORE the scent of the spritzer.. it is so yummy.. guess that perfume is going on my Sephora order at the end of the year! |

I think in the States a 50ml bottle retails for around $60 - Neiman Marcus usually stocks them. |

Hi everyone, glad I can bring some fragrance info to the board, as I am constantly learning so much about skin care here. It was the founder of Caudalie who told me that Olivia Gaicobetti created the fragrances running through the line of skin care. It really makes the line a pleasure to use; offering a complete sensory experience of soft textures and uplifting scent. For those of you who like Philosykos and would like to explore more of Olivia's fragrances here is a list of her most famous creations:
Mimosa Pour Moi for L'Artisan Perfumer
Premier Figuer for L'Artisan Perfumer
Drole de Roser for L'Artisan Perfumer
Ofresia for Diptyque
Le Petit de Guerlain for Guerlain
Hiris for Hermes
A lesser known fragrance of hers is En Passant for Editions de Parfums which is regarded as one of the lightest fragrances in the world and to me stands as a core representation of her work. It has all her fingermarks - the notes stripped to the bone, the dream-like quality and the fresh flowers sparkling misty with rain drops. The notes are lilacs, orange leafs, cucumber and wheat. I hope you enjoy discovering more of these beautiful fragrances |

That was a record quick response I wouldn't say I know her, but I have met her on a few occasions, once at her spa in Bordeaux. |

And now for the record slow response time...
How did you like the spa in Bordeaux? If you don't mind my asking, are you a professional in the beauty / cosmetics industry?
Just a small favour: I've been thinking of purchasing Philosykos (online -- so I can't smell it)... would you recommend I first try / buy another of Olivia Giacobetti's creations instead (my favourite scent is caudalie's moisturizing fluid spf8, i hope you've smelled it before)?
Thanks a lot smoothskin, you've been really informative! |

Smoothskin,
Are these fragrances essential oils? They sound wonderful. I've been looking for some new natural fragrances but they're hard to find. Artificial perfumes give me a headache and make me feel sick all over. There aren't a whole lot of choices when it comes to pure and natural perfumes. The ones in the health food stores are either too strong or boring.

Hi there, I have been away, so a slow response from me this time, but I'll try to answer all your questions. The spa in Bordeaux provides a lovely relaxing break and offers straight forward treatments. The most unique feature of this spa is that it is in fact a vineyard and has spectacular surroundings. I am involved in the beauty industry, but rest assured I am not affiliated with any one particular brand, so well spotted jzainoun I would say the closest scent to the Moisturizing Fluid SPF8 is Caudalie's own fragrance Fleur De Vigne. Philosykos is a very likeable fragrance, but it can be tricky and turns fresh on some people and has a coconut smelling dry down on others. I would recommend that you try a sample before splashing out as it is also strong and highly unusual. I can not really compare it to any of Olivia's other creations. Those who wear Philosykos well often tell me that they are showered with compliments and never get bored with it. One of the reasons that this fragrance has such a strong character is the high percentage of natural ingredients, so that also answers your question cloe. It is really difficult to find natural, high quality fragrances, and I too think it is important to get something as natural as possible. I will mention a few brands that are 'purer than many' and then feel free to ask any more questions if you want. Try looking for Miller Harris, Ormonde Jayne, Chantecaille and Antonia's Flowers and, of course, Diptyque and let me know how you get on. |

Good luck, Cloe, and enjoy the search. Some of these brands might not be that widely available, but they have beautiful websites that are great fun to explore. |

I'm glad you elaborated on Philosykos, and I'll definitely be checking out those brands you mentioned!

Hi Joanne, thanks for your response, I didn't really think that you thought I was affiliated with one brand, but just wanted to mention it in case anyone wandered... I hope you have great fun exploring some new fragrance brands and look forward to hearing how you get on. I think it is great to have some threads about fragrance as well on this board and have really enjoyed contributing to this one |
