Normally I put on a few drops of PSF Emergen C (20%), let it dry, then apply the Facial Prep, let it dry, then apply Alphaderma, then sunscreen. It takes a while! So, this morning I mixed the C serum with the Facial Prep in my palm, and eliminated 1 stage! But I don't know if I'm reducing the effectiveness of one or both of them. Could any of you amazing experts tell me if it's OK or not? What do you think? Thanks very much in anticipation. Love this site. |

Not sure, sorry. I wonder if it would be diluting the concentration?
Btw, I think the Skin Prep should be used before the vitamin C, not after... |

Personally I have always applied Vit. C, waited about five minutes and then applied the Prep. I would think by mixing the two together you would ruin the delivery of the Vit. C serum. |

I thought that the JB C serum said to apply prep gel first and then the C serum? I could be wrong though but I was under the impression that the prep gel was supposed to help increase absorption (in theory I guess) of the C serum... |

This is what I thought as well. However, when I've used the facial prep and then Emergen-C serum, it feels very tacky on my face. But I've found that whenever I use the Facial Prep it feels tacky and balls up.
It's a bit of a catch 22 - I've read that Vit. C should be applied on clean skin, but JB says that the Facial Prep should be applied before anything else.
In any case, I would think that mixing the 2 would cause one or the other to be less effective... (but this is just a guess!) |

Mabsy,
You are absolutely right. JB states to apply the Prep before C. In my case I found I had better results applying the C first. Guess you just have to do what works best for your particular skin. |

Ah well, guess I'd better apply them separately! Thank you all for your replies - really helpful, as always. |

Winnie & Nymue - thank you both for your thoughts on this. I'm going to tell my mum to switch the order and see what works better or feels better. I initially just told her to use the prep first and this is what she does (she just follows my instructions when it comes to skincare ). |
