I recently ordered a Try Me Kit from Bare Escentuals 2.3

The kit comes with a medium pot of loose powder foundation, a small pot of warmth and a small pot of mineral veil. Of course, a brush is also included.

Despite much reading much literature about the complexity of application, I found it relatively easy to apply. After priming my face (which was advised), I swirled on the foundation. It went on smoothly. Next I applied the warmth (though I am not quite used this concept). Finally the mineral veil went on, which helped to complete the look.

I must say that the finish is very light which is nice. However, I found it tough to apply the powder foundation to little crevices like the sides of my nostrils. I am very used to using my fingers to get the liquid foundation spread evenly. So, using the powder with the brush was more difficult. Having dry skin, I also prefer the more dewy look (which I do not have) that liquid foundation provided.

In conclusion, I think I would use Bare Escentuals for days in which I need only a light cover. It is very easy.

Hello Jenny,

For those small and finer areas like the bridge and the sides of my nose, the temples, and the grooves on top and under my lips, I use smaller brush with small amount of powder and it works out fine for me. My skin is not dry but to achieve that "dewy" look, I use BE Radiance instead of Mineral Veil. I save Mineral Veil for summer days. Very HappyVery HappyVery Happy

Hello Babyfish

Just luurrvve your new name - makes me think of Nemo

Thanks for the tip. Maybe I should try again with a smaller brush for those hard to reach areas.

I, too, bought the Multi Tasking Min Clear Radiance having read the description about "radiance", "dewy" and "luminousity". It does enhance my colour well although I limit it to my cheekbones - it gives a healthy flush to my face.

Although I said initially that applying the mineral powder is easy, I found out it takes time to get the amount just right - otherwise, I look very made up with pores enlarged
SurprisedSurprisedSurprised

These days, when I head off in a rush to work ( as usual can't get myself out of bed), I use my BOBBI BROWN. Weekends, when I have time, but yet want to look like I didn't try very hard to look nice;)Wink, I use the minerals. I'd like to think that my skin breathes better.

Cheers
Jenny

Hi, all:
I am new to the BE thing too, I just ordered the kit some days ago, I have combination skin (I believe) but after applying the BE, I feel the skin really dry, do you all get the same problem? Also, I couldnt get the right color, I got the 2,3 too, as they claim that the majority of us use are the medium .. the mineral veil is nice except that it's a bit dry for my skin too.. do you guys have any tips applying the BE? Thanks!

Hi Iz: Same thing is happening to me. I called Bare Escentuals and they told me to stop using the Mineral Veil b/c that tends to dry the skin but I like the color of it.

So I asked some advise here and one of the girls recommended mixing face cream with the minerals. I love it now. I had to be a scientist a little but its not too bad now. Hope that helps. Smile

Hi, DebbieN:

Thanks for the reply, but did you mean that I directly mix the any kind of cream with the Mineral Veil? Does it have to be sth in particular? Thanks again!

Thanks Jenny, you are so cute. Well, if I was just 0.5% as cute as Nemo I would become a super star. I got that nickname because I always love water and always take a long time in the bathroom with my showers and bathes and spend most of my free time in the swimming pool. I feel good when I am in the water. But spending too much time in the water is not so good for my skin, I know, especially when I'm an eczema sufferer SadSadSad.

Back to BE and dry skin, I found that if I used Evian or JI D20 Hydration to set the powder, my skin also looked more dewy. I got a bottle of this wonderful JI water as GWP and I really love it. And I also think, the main reason why we choose Mineral Makeup is its pureness, so I don't want to mix it with any moisturizer.

And Jenny, I'm still waiting for your review of Valmont Regenetic Very HappyVery HappyVery Happy. Are you happy with this cream?

That reminds me: I just read a shocking article in a science magazine about the movie "Finding Nemo."

Apparently, the movie was supposed to teach children (and adults) about respecting wildlife and not removing anything from it's native habitat. But instead, children around the world begged their parents for a pet fish like Nemo. Pet store suppliers responded to the demand and now capture as many as they can from tropical reefs, especially around Vanuatu. Now, very few remain and this species of clownfish is quickly becoming extinct!!!Mad
