I have just returned from a trip to Costco. They have a 2 pack of a product called Lip Explosion for $29.99 and now have a whole line of products for Kirkland by Borghese. Has anyone tried any of these products. The Borgese is both skin care and make-up. I also saw at the Vitamin Shoppe they carry hyaluronic acid serum by Reviva Labs for $19.80. The clerk says that they have a hard time keeping it in stock.

I was using Lip Explosion back when I had injections. I just wanted that extra oomph. I have no idea how it performs without injections since I lost my tube (this is the one that you twist and pull out the applicator wand correct? Well maybe they changed the packaging if it's not..) and my injections are long gone. I didn't get it from the store though, I remember I ordered it from somewhere on the internet. I remember a friend tried my tube of Lip Explosion and we didn't notice any difference. My lips were huge at the time so I don't really know if it made any difference to mine either. A lip plumping product that I do really like thats very cheap is one called My Lips Are Exposed, which I found at Sally Beauty Supply. It's nothing miraculous, but for the price (like $6 I think) it works as well as most of the expensive ones.

Yes Phoebes, it is clear and has a wand applicator. It so happens I was at Sally's today also and may have seen that product. They also had some Fran Wilson tea tree lip conditioner and another one of her products. She sells her lipsticks on QVC. Thanks for your input.

Phoebes...if you don't mind my asking, what kind of injections did you get? I don't have any immediate plans, but every now and then I do confess to thinking about doing a little collagen or restalyne! Sounds like you were happy with your results...did they last a long time?

I'm not sure exactly what they were to tell you the truth, they were free and I believe they were collagen, but I'm not entirely sure what they were. I was dating a doctor at the time who's buddy was a plastic surgeon. He knew I wanted bigger lips so he surprised me with setting up an appointment with his buddy. I went and had I guess a normal injection amount put in. We both agreed that they should have gone larger since I was getting injections after all. So one night after drinking cocktails and being on the town we went to his buddys penthouse and I got another round of the injections. This time I had nothing to numb the pain except alcohol and I didn't feel a thing! Mind you this was a reputable surgeon with a downtown Chicago office so I wasn't worried. And I had no reason to be since everything turned out fine. They didn't last nearly as long as I wished they would have (but they did outlive the relationship with the doctor). I heard that taking hyaluronic acid supplements keeps the injections in place longer as well as applying some celedrol lotion to the lips. Of course I didn't know this at the time and my injections are long gone. Sad
I would get them again, but the kind I had did make my lips a little hard to the touch under the skin.

You know, to be a little more specific about the length of time that they lasted. I had the first round done Halloween of 2003, the second a couple weeks after that. I remember sitting in the passenger seat of a car at the beginning of summer 2004 putting on lipgloss thinking for the first time that my injections where gone. I remember looking at my lips really closely thinking how nice they looked.. how delicate they looked. They looked really pretty after having been inflated for so long. Of course now I want them huge again! I'm pretty sure the lip injections I had were supposed to last 6 months and I think it was supposed to be around $500 per injection (what he normally charged).. so at $1000 for what I had, I don't think I would pay that for 6 months of big lips... that's probably why I never went back for injections. Also, I have to add, since I was using the Lip Explosion back then, that means Lip Explosion has been around for around 3 or so years now. I think if it was that fabulous or miraculous a product it would have gotten around by now you know? I don't think it performs any better than the rest of them out there.

Thanks, Phoebes! I've always heard they were pricey, and you pretty much confirmed it! Laughing Like a lot of people here, I was never obsessed with lip plumping until I found EDS...now I'm always wondering how to get huge, beautiful lips! But I think you're right about the Lip Explosion...if it was a miracle product I think we'd hear more about it. I wish topicals weren't so hit and miss...seems that nothing works for everyone. So, on with my quest for the perfect plumper...and perhaps a little collagen/restelyne when I hit the Lotto! Laughing

You might want to try Mega Plump gloss by Wet n' Wild. It's only 3.99 and says it has maxi lip. It seems to work pretty well, and I think the Maxi lip is having a more long term effect. Worth a shot for the price!

Cloud_9, I remember you posting awhile back about this gloss! Sounds like you're still liking it, so that's good news...especially since I need to hit the Walgreens later this week. Like you said, for $4, it's worth a try!

Cloud--I tried the mega plump that you suggested. I read the entire label and did not see any reference to Maxi lip. It is a nice gloss and had a great cinammon scent and taste but did not notice any kind of plumping going on. I tried color 586 Plum Desert and really like it.

Yeah, the tube doesn't say maxi lip, I actually saw it on the display part. That's what made me buy it. It didn't plump for me right away, it was more of a gradual thing over time. I've been using it during the day and also at night before I go to bed.

Well, since I do like it I will continue to use it and see if I can notice any difference. What color do you use if you wear it to bed? I would be afraid mine would stain the pillowcase. Thanks again for the information.

Hi Mimi H,

I can not comment on Lip Explosion, but I can on Borghese make-up. I have their Hydro Minerali Effeto Powder SPF 8 in Nudo that I got as a part of gift from strawberrynet a couple of months ago. I was surprised at the quality of it - it is one of the best powders I have tried so far (better then Clinique, Mac, Lauder,...), very fine milled, quite weightless, does not make me break out and makes my skin look velvety soft. The only downside - the colour, Nudo is too dark for a PPP like me, hence I use it more as a bronzer and an eye-shadow.

Thanks Agnjideva, for the comments. Did you initially try using it as a foundation powder?
I think for the price I might give some of the products a try. I have been using my samples of Pure Luxe lately and I really like them.

I got the clear, so I hadn't thought about staining. Are the colors sheer or pretty pigmented? I was thinking of trying a color next time. Thanks!

Yes, initially I did try to use it as a foundation powder, despite the colour. It went on very sheer and I wore it at home for a few days to see if I'll get any reactions. But I felt I should not impose my two tone face/neck combo on innocent bystenders outside the privacy of my home. I was thinking of getting some more ...yet Costco is a bit far for me and I am weary of ordering it from the net (colour and freshness issues). I was also eyeing their Fango Mud products, since I heard they (masque, I think) are good.

I am glad Pure Lux is working for you (I might have to invest in it), maybe Borghese will too. Have fun at Costco and let us know how it went.
