I have this brown stain on my tooth(next to front tooth)right near the gum line.Its only noticeable when i smile but I hate it.I also have light brown stains between my bottom teeth though they're not as noticable.
I brush twice a day and use listerine so I dont know why I'm getting them.I think the ones on my bottom teeth are from smoking(i dont anymore) but the one on my top tooth is new.
Can anyone rec something that will work to get rid of them before i resort to going to the dentist.

P.s I've tried colgate simply white toothpaste and the paint on peroxide product-both useless.
Currently using glosmile?smokers toothpaste-not doing much either  |

| I've used baking soda and had nice results. I've used food grade hydrogen peroxide too. Nothing insanely bright but it will help remove stains. |

I have problems with stains from drinking coffee and tea. I do what Chimera says use peroxide and baking soda. I've also used the ear wax drops that have a form of peroxide.
The peroxide baking soda mix is also supposed to be good for preventing gum disease. |

Do you just put baking soda straight on the brush or should you mix it with your toothpaste?

hmmmm... maybe time to go for a regular dental checkup and start using baking soda. Are you a coffee or COKE person? Try rinse it with water after you finish your coffee/coke...it may help.  |

oh, forgot to say, don't use whitening product, it may make your teeth sensitive!!!
the best advice is go and visit your dentist, have them to get rid of your stains...then you will be happy again!!! Good luck!!! |

| Baking Soda works for me. Rather then put it on your brush try dampening a 2x2 gauze square, apply a generous amount of baking soda and rubbing the stains. This works very well behind your bottom teeth. Baby yarn used as floss works well between teeth (with baking soda). The yarn has more friction then floss. |

Thanks girls, I'll try the rinse and the baking soda. If both dont work i may have to go to the dentist  I havent been for ...10 YEARS  terrible I know. |

| me too, I've been avoiding the dentist like the plague. I use Close Up, it's the only thing that seems to get my teeth really white. Also I started using a plaque rinse before I brush. you might want to get them checked though, could be your teeth might have the beginning of a cavity, esp. if you find they are sensitive to contact with heat, cold or sugar. |

| also, make sure you are flossing regularly. If you have trouble with regular floss (like me) you can try a product like reach's daily flosser, this makes flossing super easy! |

| Yes, I agree. The baking soda method seems to have a little grit to it and scrubs it off. Mix it with a little whiting toothpaste and dab on with a cotton swab. Let it sit for a few minutes then brush. Maybe your toothbrush is missing that one spot therefore it is a little built up. I know that has happened to me before.... |

Thanks girls. The stain is very close to the gum line so its hard to get to properly. The baking soda stung the gum a bit but I'll try a bit longer then if it dosent work i may have to leave it to a dentist.
Just putting it off though as a trip to the dentist isnt cheap I know they'll find more to do! I noticed the other day the silver is coming off a couple of fillings revealing the gold of the filling underneath, thats nothing to worry about is it?
