What's your favorite mascara?

I have heard loads of good things about Blinc kiss me. And apparently according to MUA, Shu Uemura has the highest rating. But I have used SU before, but didn't find it especially amazing.

I don't need sky scraping lash effect (I have decent lengthed lashes)...so lengthening mascara is not a must. Volumnizing would be lovely though!. The biggest issue with all my mascaras is that they all clump on me! i hate having clumps on my lashes... I have that little lash "comb" to comb out the clumps but I want that defined 'lash by lash' look... I don't want my lashes to be sticking to each other!

so what is your recommendation for me?

I've been using the same blinc tube for a few months now and it hasn't clumped at all. It's a thinner formula that other mascaras.

I love the stuff, but wouldn't say the formula is super volumizing...

I currently am using Shiseido's Lasting Lift - very nice!

I have heard great reviews Helena Rubinstein's Spectacular Mascara -alas, I can't find it here in the good ol' US of A. Strawberry.net has it, but I'm on the fence about spending $28 for mascara.

I use Kiss Me on the bottom lashes - never, ever, smudges, no raccoon eyes. Great! Come to think of it, I think I paid $23 for it so maybe $28 isn't a bad price if it works! lol

My faves are Maybelline lash expansion & Lancome Hypnose. I like dark pigment, lengthen and volume. Very Happy

Surprisingly I don't have issues with it flaking or clumping. I have a MAC Spooly brush, which I love, but I really don't need to use it with this mascara! I LOVE Lancome cils booster and sometimes I use it underneath. Very Happy

I actually just found a new fave mascara...believe it or not, it’s a (relatively) cheapie drugstore brand! It’s Max Factor’s new “Lash Lift” mascara. It’s got a relatively “dry” formulation (which I prefer – less likely to make a mess and glop up my lashes) and a really great brush. Some of you may have read me complain about my oily eyelids, which normally make my mascara leave ugly raccoon smudge marks before it’s even lunch time, unless I wear waterproof mascara, but this stuff hasn’t smudged on me yet...granted, it’s not “high” summer here in TX yet (mercury up over 100 degrees F), but I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I’ve found my holy grail mascara – I just wish it came in navy or burgundy/eggplant!! Lash Lift is less than $8USD at most supermarkets and drugstores.

My favorite is L'Oreal Panoramic Curl. I have not had to use an eyelash curler since I started using this. And it lasts all daywithout flaking or smugging.

I have very sensitive eyes so I can only use mascaras that are relatively chemical free. The best I have used so far is Ecco Bella -- it even has a mirror along the side of the tube! I really love it. Smile

My first purchase after discovering EDS forum was a mascara. I never found one less expensive so I was doubtful. BUT I can honestly say Rimmel's product was just as great as any department store brand I have tried. It never clumps, and that is highest on my list of preferences....

I seldom use mascara, bc I perm my lashes and the curls don't last as long if I use mascara, but if I do, I use darphin's or Tony&Tina's lash dew. As far as drug store brand, I agree with deacon, Rimmel's is the best I have tried.

O/T a bit, but, how often do you perm your lashes? I had mine permed in October and I've been told that every three months is the most frequent you can get them permed. I'm about to go back and get it done again but I still wonder if it damages lashes over time....

I have quite a few favorite mascaras, depending on occasion. On a daily basis, I prefer waterproof, because it's practical for workout. My faves in that department are Shiseido Distinguish and Lancome Flex WP.

For lengthening, I like the Sky High Curves from Maybelline, or HR Spectacular mascara.

For volume, I like YSL Effet Faux Cils or Maybelline Volum'Express, but volumizing mascaras have a tendency to clump and do not last as long on the lashes as other mascaras.

For daytime I love Almay's The Insider. Its a gel formula so you dont get that 'crispy' eyelashes feeling Shock Plus, you can layer it up to get the look you want with no clumping or flaking.

For evening I love Dior Maximeyes, although I am thinking of getting Diorshow next as the tube is twice as big as the Maximeyes for the same price.

For absolute budgeproof staying power then nothing beats Kanebo 38 degrees - it's not particularly volumising but its certainly the glossiest mascara I've used.

I also use Clarins Fix Mascara sometimes to waterproof the Almay or the Dior.

Mabsy, it depends but usually I perm mine every 2 months, not that the curls go away after 2 months but I like the perkier curls. I have been perming my lashes for YEARS now, I didn't noticed any REAL DAMAGE, the texture will get coarser after the perm, just like when we perm our hair, but I kind of like coarser lashes, make them look thicker in a way. The difference btw hair perm and lash perm (that I can think of) is when you perm your hair, the perming lotion may most likely get to your scalp, versus eyelash perming, you will not allow that the lotion to get to the roots. Our lashes and brows also fall out and grow back on their own much quicker anyway, how often do we have to pluck our brow ? Shock Mad

Eyelash perming has been a MUST routine for me, it eliminates all needs for eye makeup in my case Razz

Hey all,
thanks for all your inputs!!

I am bombarded with the vast selection of recommendations...

I think I'll narrow down to Kiss me, Dior show or maximeyes (whats the difference between the two anyways?), Lancome Hypnose

Drug store brands: Almay The insider, MF Lash Lift, Rimmel

Happybunny: im interested in Kanebo, does it seriously only come off with water at 38degree?

I know this list is not so narrowed down at all... but all of you made all your recommendations sound so appealing... I don't know which to choose!!

It literally does not move aprilha. I use warm water and a Kanebo Sponge Chief (which is a strange textured cloth you can use to remove 38 degrees and also cleansers and mask - a bit like a chamois leather for your face Shock Very Happy !), but you can use just warm water and your fingers if you want to. You wiggle your fingers around on your eyelashes and it comes off in little tubes a bit like the Kiss Me mascara.

As I said, its not a particularly good product for volume (you need Dior for that!)but great on days when you know you need the ultimate in staying power mascara - soppy films, weddings, rainstorms etc Smile

Good luck on your quest for the ultimate mascara!

One I keep coming back to is Lancome Definicils. I really love this; the brush is thin and long (easier for me to work with) and it doesn't smear!!! That's a big plus for me. It may be expensive, but I've spent so much money trying to find a cheaper alternative and I still come back to Definicils, so I figure from now on I'll just keep buying it. Very Happy

I have been looking for a mascara not clumping my lashes (which is quite long and thick) for a long time. I finally found Ettusais Hyper Curl Mascara (Separate) and it does a great job in giving me well-defined lashes! The applicator is a "comb" rather than a brush like most mascaras:

For thick lashes I love Lancome Hypnose. I almost always have a problem with raccoon eyes but never with this one. For that individual lash look I would HIGHLY recommend a lash comb by Tweezerman. It's got metal teeth - unlike most of the combo combs available. The teeth are very close together so it really does a great job of "unclumping" those lashes. With this combo, I have really thick looking lashes with some lengthening (but nothing crazy). I absolutely love it! I have 2 of the Tweezerman combs - got one at Sally Beauty Supply and one at the local drugstore. Be sure to use it while lashes are still wet though or it won't work right.

Good luck!
