It's just as well that I didn't immediately rush off and write this review after first trying my new True Cosmetics Loose Foundation. If I had, the verdict would have been very different indeed. In fact, I actually ended up changing my mind about it three times!
The foundation comes in a pot with a screw-on lid, and there's the usual internal sprinkle lid to allow a little powder out at a time. I applied it using my JI Handi Brush and a flocked sponge.
My usual foundation colour is JI's Amazing Loose Base in Satin, and I was initially very sceptical when everyone I asked recommended the True Cosmetics Medium #3. It looked nothing like JI Satin on the Internet colour swatches I could see! Thankfully, they were right after all, and the two are close matches.
When I initially applied the True foundation, in not very good light, unfortunately, it looked great and I loved it. However, when I took my mirror and had a look in broad daylight, the coverage was patchy and really showed up my pores.
This worsened during the day and I decided that I hated the darn stuff! It seemed to make my skin look really awful.
Like another forum member, I had also found the True Loose foundation to be less finely-milled than the JI and harder to apply. When I read her posting about this, I decided to give True another try. This time I applied two light layers and then spritzed with my JI H20.
Into the daylight, I miserably rambled, clutching my mirror and expecting to be disappointed once again. But no! This time it actually looked good! The coverage was still light, but was now even, and my pores were hardly noticeable.
So now I've decided that I do love True Foundation after all. Must admit, though, that I prefer the look of my JI. I can't tell you exactly why - it just somehow is better on the skin. The thing about the True Cosmetics version, however, is that it contains the famous Idebenone, so I'm tempted to use it for that particular reason - in the hope that it will help and protect my skin.
I think it's a question of playing around with True, to get the application technique right. Once you have, hopefully you'll love it too. |

Majorb,
I feel the same way you do about True Minerals. I bought the pressed mineral compact. The first time I applied it with a Kabuki brush, and was not so happy with coverage, then tried another brush with a flat head and got better results, but not fully satisfied.
I also want to love this because of the Idebenone. I hope another user will respond with some tips.
Good Luck! |

So is the JI a better finish, less of a pore and wrinkle show? I too have struggled with the application of the TRUE pressed powder. Love the color, finish, wearability, etc., but it still shows my pores and wrinkles (wish I didn't have any to show). The TRUE rep said outer face to inner, down the "T", buff and swirl, than pat with the sponge or add more. I don't spritz though, and she said it was only to add more sheen, which I do not need. Never tried the JI. |

For me, so far, the JI looks better and doesn't show my pores or lines so much, but I'll try applying it in the order you mentioned, Annie. Let's see if that makes a difference.
I'm determined to try and make it work for me, if at all possible! |

I just use my MAC "all round" brush and sort of swirl and sweep it allover my face... And the lighting is terrible at home and at work - so I really haven't got a clue what I look like ... and after your experience majorb, I'm scared to find out...think I'm just gonna forget about it all and pretend I never read this post....ladiladidaaa |

If TRUE shows pores and lines more than JI then it's not for me since JI still makes my pores and lines look worse. I guess my search for the perfect MMU continues. |

As far as I know it doesn't show anything bad off on me, coz I've got more compliments for my skin since having used TRUE. From what I've understood everyone seems to have different opinions and experiences with MMU... |

It's hard to describe the good and bad of it. I do love the way my skin looks with it, I just wish I didn't have any lines and pores to show. (Then I would have NO complaints.)'' |

Yes, I think MMU brands work very differently on different people. It's just a question of trying them until you find one that suits you.
TRUE might be absolutely perfect for some, but not for others. I wouldn't necessarily write it off until you've tried it. |

I read somewhere and I can't remember the source, but it said to apply aloe gel as a primer before applying minerals.
I was shopping at walmart and picked up a natural aloe gel for about 2.99.
I applied the aloe all over my face and waited about 5 minutes before my mineral application. Then buffed my true minerals. It did not settle in any lines or pores.
I just looked in the mirror and after 12 hrs still nothing in my fine lines.

My mother uses the True Radiance serum and she loves it. She thinks she's getting a better result than from SkinMedica TNS Recovery and Skinceuticals and Vivier C serums. I have to say that her skin looks much more brighter and softer. But Idebenone doesn't really work for me but I think it may be the formulation I seem to break out when I use the Prevage. |

Well I tried the Aloe Vera tip. Didn't make any difference in the pore/wrinkle department, but skin was nicely hydrated all day. |

I haven't read through the entire thread yet (those 30 minutes of internet time that I'm allotted at work can get eaten up mighty quick! ), so forgive me if this has already been pointed out but in the True product literature it says that using their own "Transforming Mineral Mist" is THE key to making the True foundation work. I'm pleased with my True pressed foundation as is so haven't felt the need to purchase their spritz, but wanted to point out that they do recommend using a spritz to achieve the best results: http://www.essentialdayspa.com/true-cosmetics-transformi-p_4417.htm Unfortunately, I haven't read about anyone using the actual True spritz in conjunction with the foundation so I don't know if theirs is truly better/different then any other spritz.... |

Next time I use it, I'll try it with my JI D20 and see what happens. If it works, I might try changing to the True Cosmetics spritz after my JI's finished and check if I get an even better result.
Don't suppose anyone's already tried it with the True spritz? It'd be interesting to see how they fared. |

Thanks carekate-I had asked the TRUE rep about that when I called before I bought it and whether or not I needed it. She said it was to make your skin look "dewey" and that if I had oily skin I would not need it. I tried spritzing with mineral water (which she said I could try) but that did not work, don't think that is the same. I'm glad your's is working out. I since have learned to barely tap any on in my problem areas and that is sooo much better. And I will say again that this is a thousands times better than my old prescriptives or sheisido liquid base that I really cannot complain!! |

Has anyone tried any of the masks and otehr skin care range from True? I've been eyeing the True Tech Essential Cream (name?). Any reviews would be great! |
