i've always been told I have really soft delicate hands. Maybe i never noticed this because I see it on others, but now i see them on myself; like two lines on each of them from where I move my wrists back...i'd like to think i'm not overreacting..and that they aren't a big thing. Perhaps I am not using an efficient moisturizer..All I know is that I want them go to away and would like anyone to give input. I'm only 21 by the way. |

It's normal and caused by movement. Doubt if there's much you could do about it. |

Yes, it sounds like lines caused by movement, much like we get lines around our eyes from expression. I guess think about what you do during the day that causes you to bend your wrist that way, but really how can you not move, you know? I've come to grips with the fact that I have lines under my eyes from squinting, and I'm only 24. (I wear contacts and work at a jewerly counter= looking at small things when it can be hard to focus!)
I guess you could try putting eye cream on the lines, as it's the most concentrated, and doing some sort of treatment on the area-- a peel, etc. See if that improves them or helps. |

Lots of ladies forget to put sunscreen on the hands.
I notice that I get freckles or little brown spots on my left hand. It is because I drive to work every day and only the left hand exposes to the sun. I start to put sunscreen on my hands as well.
It is very important to protect our hands, not only our face. |

i think they are because of movement. They are exactly in line with how my hands fold back and forth...so i don't think its by sun exposure, because i rarely let my hands out in the sun. |

It's better to prevent them from getting worse, so get a good hand treatment asap. |

Every morning I use DDF 12.5% glycolic body lotion and a sunscreen on my hands. I've been doing this for over a year and the lines and age spots are greatly reduced. I have almost no wrist lines and I am 51. |

Are you male? It's strange because ive noticed guys my age do not have these on their hands but I do notice many females do..i think skin thickness has a big deal to do with it. I notice girls my age with big lines on their necks which thankfully I do not suffer from neck lines..and my hands are very faint with their flaws, so i suppose if i used this they would go away completely. I'm my own worst enemy with finding things on me i dislike...thanks for the suggestion. |

I'm female. I think it is genetic but over the past three years through diet, supplements and products the skin on my face and hands is significantly better at a time when most womens skin gets worse.I do take HRT. |

you know, it's funny but I have the lines on my forearm and bicep - where my skin apparently does not fold!! but it looks like fold lines...
i agree with the sunscreen on your hands. Also, to keep hands looking young my mother always told me to wear dish gloves while washing dishes or cleaning. |

May I ask what HRT is?
I moisturized my hands plenty today and wore sunscreen and the little lines were pretty much nonexistant..maybe exfoliating might help as well. |

HRT is hormone replacement. For the past few years I have used the glycolic cream and a sunscreen every morning and moisturizer every evening. I think many people forget to use products esp. on hands. Most people use sunscreen when going to the beach but other times I think most people just protect the face. |

yeah i know what you mean. These definitely are to blame from i guess you would say expression of the hands and lack of moisture. I think if i use an exfoliator and moisturize more regularly, i will not see them at all anymore. At least i hope! |

Definitely use sunscreen and always use gloves if you are going to be soaking your hands in soap or chemicals. I didn't do this for many years even though my mother would get mad at me for this. She warned me often about not using sunscreen or wearing gloves when doing cleaning. I thought that she was old fashioned and I knew more than her anyway. I'm soon 35 and although I don't have any pigment changes on my hands I do have those wrinkles that you wrote about and she does not! Her hands are beautiful and liver spot free. She just turned 70 this past April. Of course she also grew up back when women still wore white gloves in public and I'm beginning to think that there was a reason why the gloves were so popular. As soon as the fashion of wearing gloves went away you started to have women with liver spots and wrinkled hands. I'm not saying bring back gloves but DO wear sunscreen on your hands. They are exposed to a lot of sun yearlong. |

This is going to sound a little weird, but in Japan many many women not only wear gloves when they go out in the sun, but they also carry parasols! I'm pale and afraid of skin cancer and liver spots, so when I moved back to the states I brought gloves AND parasols back with me, LOL. My sisters make fun of me, saying I look silly walking around the zoo or wherever with a parasol, but my skin is going to thank me!^-^ |

I have seen some women with umbrellas when the sun is out here but they are usually older ladies. I wish that it was fashionable to do so in western countries as it is in asian ones. I wear sunscreen on face, neck, chest and hands year round no matter what. Even here in the winter when the sun doesn't rise until nearly 10am and it is black again at 2.30pm. Yes you read that right! Most of my friends here could care less about sunscreen or skin cancer. They bake in tanning salons and lay out on beaches in France, Greece and Spain. It's not surprising that Sweden is tied with Denmark for having the highest rate of skin cancer in all of Europe! This isn't because there is so much sun here it is because they are irresponsible while on holiday in sunny places. Laying out for 5 hours without any sunscreen seems to be normal here. I'm the lone person who actually cares. |
