How many of us have reacted unfavorably to the Bismuth Oxychlroide in some of the bigguns in the mineral world? (i.e. Jane Iredale, Bare Essentuals, Youngblood to name a few).
As many of us who have been brave enough to venture into the Disneyworld of mineral makeup forums (delphi-mineral mania) we have found a whole BUNCH of alternatives with fabulous customer service and creators who are willing to customize a color just for you!
I was able to find some great alternatives in Aromaleigh, Bare Faced Minerals, etc....some of my most favorite shadows, liners, blushes have been from these smaller but incredible lines.
But for those who thought Bare Essentuals was the cat's meow only to react to the Bismuth in it - you might want to try EveryDay Minerals. From what I understand this is THE alternative to BE - even the names of the foundation colors are similar. AND....you can get a sample kit to try for....FREE! All you pay is shipping and handling.
You're thinking - "Maria, have YOU tried EveryDay minerals?" Please....you guys know me well enough to know the answer to THAT question! Yup. Last year, and I thought it was quite NICE. However, their original formula was too glowy for me (like BE)- and I like that soft-focus glow look, but this was neon-esque on me....Enter their new formula Semi Matte (they also have a matte). I am going to be trialing this and see how it goes. I will tell you that, from my experience, customer service is excellent, and you can't beat the free samples. Also, take a look at the Finishing Dust reviews on MUA - Five Stars across the board....I'm going to be trying that as well, especially with summer looming - although I'm dry I get oily in the t-zone.
So, this is just another option for those looking to foray into the mineral world.
Very easy to navigate website too - step by step application methods, accurate color samples, etc....
I'll let you know how I make out with the Semi-Matte.

I used BE for a long time, and for some reason, with my sensitive skin, I never had a problem with it.. Thankfully! But I just couldn't get over the shinyness and all the buffing didn't thrill me... I've changed to Amazing and LOVE it, but what the heck, I'm game.. I'm going to check this out.. I like to have more than one option! Thanks for the review... |

Hi Kiki -
I'm about to try Amazing myself...you SEE how I have NO self control whatsoever???? That's great that you didn't have a reaction to BE - before I knew it was bismuth that was bothering me, I had switched from BE to JI b/c I was getting itchy plus the shine was a little too much for me...but then JI, while not giving me shine, made me itch too. Then I discovered the delphi forums and learned of the culprit. Please let me know if you get the Everyday minerals and how you like them. I'm ordering samples of the semi-matte. I have a growing Sephora order that I'm going to add the Amazing to. I have already become quite fond of the Amazing Concealer. It's great.

I was the same way too - but once I learned that it was the bismuth, I became more game to try some other lines (and by some other lines I mean like a ZILLION of them! ) There are so many out there, and it's amazing how just different amounts of zinc, titanium, and mica can make or break an MMU for me.

Maria I can relate to no self control!
I ordered samples of the Pure, and do like some of what I got, but, whatever color I ordered was sposed to be the match for my BE color, according to a chart.. It wasn't... I didn't want to mess with trying to mix the color I want.. I'll make a lot fo things, but trying to do that, no way...
I'll let you know what I think.. I hope their colors are a good match to BE, because I did like the color..
Of course then I'll be torn between Amazing and this...LOL OY! |

Kiki - do you mean Pure Luxe when you say you ordered samples of Pure? If you did, I too was not able to find a match in Pure Luxe, but did appreciate the fast service. I do have a couple of their liner colors that are nice though. I was loving the line eraser too, but I ran out.

Yes Maria, I left out the 'Luxe'.. Opps.. I got most all of her sparklie shadows and stuff.. I like them, but I did notice it caused my eye lid some trouble.. I have to really be careful of what I use on or around my eyes.. I don't think it will be a problem, I think I just forgot to use a base before trying them out.. Not a big deal... I know there were a few other items I want to order samples of, but I can't remember off hand what they are...LOL
I also got the eraser but seem to always forget to use it..
I plan on checking out the Everyday Minerals site tomorrow... |

You are so right, Maria. I ordered samples of Everyday minerals on March 23rd and received them yesterday from Texas to the interior of BC. I ordered the glo version in fairly light, light and medium tan. Also, the finisher and a bronzer, I haven't tried either yet.
Fairly-light is decidedly pink so I didn't even try it. Everyday minerals Light looks the same in finish and shade as BE's Light. I remember now why I was so blown away the first time I applied BE. The glow seems to blur imperfections, it can be layered for coverage and still looks natural, not flat and cakey. Everyday Minerals is the same! Minus the itch!
Today I ordered more samples in the semi matte formula and the new Golden Light shade.
I haven't tried the finishing powder as it contains cornstarch. I have this thing about putting food on my face, I worry it will make me break out like BE's Mineral Veil did. But with the great reviews I will try it. |

Does anyone know if serecite is just another name for silica? I've noticed mineral foundations with it give me bumps. It doesn't itch or anything. I notice Everyday Minerals doesn't cause any sort of reaction, no itching, no bumps, I'm very impressed. It has no serecite or silica. |

I also ordered the Everyday Minerals and got my samples in a couple of weeks. I like them so much better than BE! They seem to cover my freckles better. |
