One of my friends told me she spent over 6K to 7K CAD on skin care in one year. woo...that's a lot of money though. I usually spend around 2K per year but my husband still complains I'm buying too much. |

I'm so with you on that! I don't want to know how much I spend and I don't add it up anymore.... |

I try not to think about it anymore! |

I believe in the "don't ask, don't tell" rule.
Only my Quicken knows. |

I never used to really know ... other than it was alot. But recently (in the last few weeks) I'm starting a spreadsheet where I'm keeping track of what I buy, when, how much and if I like it or not enough to repurchase (I think I saw someone with something similar posted here before and it gave me the inspiration ). I think I NEED to start being more aware of what I buy. I've bought so many things in the past that I've used for a few weeks and either thrown out or given away. We'll see how well it works ... if nothing else it will give me a better idea of when I started certain products so I can better judge the effectiveness over time.
Roughly, this year (since I went on a huge Dermalogica spending spree and then just got a bunch of Juice Beauty products plus a PTR Eye Rescue) ... I'm probably at around $1300. Oh, but then I didn't add in what I spent on two microdermabrasions, oh and there was a bunch of orders I placed at Make Me Smooth, oh, and ...
OK ... maybe I DON'T want to know either. |

Are we supposed to be including the money spent on facials, massages, mani/pedi??? *smile*
For me - I've probably spent about $1500 total year to date. It's how I take care of me. |

Yea, I reckon between what I spend at EDS other online shopping, purchases here in Japan etc. it woudl be close to CA$2000 between Hubby and myself. |

I don't keep track of the purchases. I would hate to add up those credit card receipts. |

With so many drawers full of products, I would rather not think about the cost or I would feel very guilty! |

I'm having trouble believing that you manage to keep it under CA$2000 |

well, in fairness, my "must haves" from Germany are not really expensive items! But yea, I guess I will have about 150 euro worth of stuff I want ... but it is summer, so that rules out my online purchasing till the start of October. That's how I keep myself in check I guess. |

I'm too skeered to add it all up!
(but it's between $1500 - $2000 I THINK!)
Before I found EDS, I would never have believed I could spend so much on my skin. |

I just looked at my EDS order history and realized that I have spent CA$2500 on EDS alone this past year. So I guess somewhere between 5K and 7K. That's a lot for a poor student... |

Since I joined EDS, I had spent a fortune on all these wonderful products...just can't help it to want to try them all. I must have spent more than $2000 a year just on product. The facial and microdermabrasion, I'd say I pay about $800 a year. I have to keep my husband in the dark. I cannot let him know the amount of money I spend for my face. |

I had been doing better with not spending so much on beauty and skin but then I got pregnant last fall and went a little crazy this spring! I've had to spread out my purchases in Quicken for the rest of the year to compensate!
I think my spending will be a little better now that I have found many simple DIY recipes here that have been great for my skin (DIY DHCC, OCM, rosehip seed oil, DIY vit. c serum). I am now addicted to Dr. H products, though, so we'll see if I come out ahead over time as I stop buying so many products to see if they work better.
I sure wish I could be happy with drugstore cosmetics but, unfortunately, I can't seem to pass up my Chanel, Bobbi Brown, Laura Mercier... Now, there is even a Sephora that just opened near me!! I keep telling myself that I won't be shopping once I have this baby so I might as well get it now! I compensate, though, by only getting my hair cut and highlighted once every six months. I don't get manicures and I only indulge in a facial if my skin is in TERRIBLE condition. I need to develop tiger_tim's control and only put in orders for products at certain times of the year! |
