I just began drinking coffee seriously when my son started to work at Starbucks. Now I have to roasted and grind my own beans to make sure that I am getting the freshest cup of coffee I can. Kona is my favorite but it costs $$$ so roasting it myself I can get it a little cheaper. I never new how many different types of coffee beans were out there. Just wanted to share one of my new hobbies. Very Happy

I get addicted to chocolate from halloween to christmas. January to september I'll have maybe 1 chocolatey item per month. This year will be different though. My doc gave me the calcium/milk lecture so I'm drinking a glass of 1% chocolate milk in the PM

Haha, how about all of the above, and all year long. I wouldn't say I am addicted, but I crave for them at a certain time of the day, like coffee in the morning, chocolate after dinner, and diet pepsi (caffeine free) in between, is that * spam alert * ??

Have you girls heard of pros and cons of them ?

As far as I know...
Coffee pro : Lower cholesterol
Coffee con : slow down lymphatic drainage

Diet pepsi pro : arthritis (Diet Coke), not sure about pepsi
Diet pepsi con : eat up your calcium

chocolate pro : antioxidant (esp. Dark chocolate), good for your heart
chocolate con : pimples to some people

For all the addicted ones, we can always look at the pros, then we won't feel so bad.. Wink

I was a serious caffiene addict. I'm still fighting it but I have a heart condition so it's a big no-no. I have switched to decaf lattes and I don't drink sodas but chocolate has been really hard to give up. Especially since guests from California showed up at the beginning of January with 6 boxes of chocolate including 2 boxes of truffles from Trader Joe's. I ate all the truffles and gave the rest of the chocolate away. When I'm in Canada I buy those giant bittersweet 70% cocoa baking bars at Bernard Callebaut. I smash it up with a hammer and keep the bits in the fridge to nibble on about an ounce a day. So good. Too bad it sends my heart rate up around 200!

Geez you're not addicted to coffee until you're downing three or more Frappé's a day. THEN you have a problem. Man I love frappé though, and its like 3 times stronger than regular coffee. Speaking of frappé... its about that time.

Guess what hubby gave me for Christmas this year? A new coffee mug to replace the one that lost its picture from too many dishwasher trips, if that says anything...... Laughing

And it's large! We like to refer to it as the "supervisor mug."

BTW, I drink the Sumatra version because it is very low in acidity.

I have to admit that lately when I just don't feel like working out (and I make myself workout everyday because I'm trying to lose weight)... I chug a cup of coffee 15 minutes before I hit the elliptical. LoL is that bad? Oh well at least it gets me moving and I don't do it that often, just the days where I feel totally blah.

Weight Watchers told my friend that drinking coffee is okay as long as you drink a cup of water for every couple of coffee that you drink (coffee actually dehydrates you). That's on top of the recommended 8 glasses of water that we're suppose to drink daily. That's a lot of trips to the bathroom. Laughing

PhoebesMeow,

Hey, I'm so impressed you work out every day!! I can't seem to even go for a walk, much less get my butt moving for a serious workout! I say if the coffee gets you moving and motivated, no harm done. In the end, your body will be much happier with the workout and forgive you for the coffee! Smile

I have an espresso machine at home and I make instead of my breakfast 5-6 double espressos Shock . That is just a beginning...during a day I also drink very strong coffee(I don't like the regular coffee, because it tastes like water to me). I tried to cut down my coffee "quantities", but it never worked out Sad .

Well...I'm a coffee junkie myself! I've been trying to cut down but it's so hard during winter. I found that I drink more coffee when I'm stressed out..do you guys experience the same?

Heck yes I drink more coffee when I'm stressed out! My body craves in like oxygen, LOL!!! But I always try to be a good girl and alternate it with cups of green or herbal tea...

Holy Cow, the coffee * spam alert * award goes to Lara1 by a landslide. I recently had someone ask me "How many cups of coffee do you drink a day!?" and seriously I only drink about 2, SOMETIMES 3 and they were like "Everytime I'm over here you're drinking or making a cup of coffee" I swear it was just a coincidence because I only drink a few, but then I had to stop and think that was I drinking more than that? No.... I don't think so.

But all I have to say is "I can't stop drinking the coffee! I stop drinking the coffee, I stop doing the standing, the walking, and the words-putting-into-sentence-doing"

I loooove coffee! My husband has won in a golf tournament a prize of one pound of coffee per month from Second Cup. I have only one cup a day, but, boy, do I enjoy it! My favourite so far is Sumatra, with Ethiopian as close second. That prize was for «closest to the green» and the hubby has won it two years in a row. Let's say that I encourage my husband to go to the driving range before this tournament.

I too only have one cup a day and I forced myself when I got pregnant with my first child to mix that coffee in with one cup of milk so that I can get some nutrition with it. I like it real strong so I compensated by making my coffee even stronger! Laughing (Thankfully, my husband loves his super strong too so it works out well.)

The funny thing is, I had given up caffeine for over a year before I got pregnant with my first baby but, as soon as I was pregnant, I gave that up and started drinking it again! I just loooooooove my morning coffee!!! In fact, I've always dreamed of opening a coffee bar (I'm a chef by trade) so I alternate between, like, four different ways of making it depending on my mood and my husband's! It's just too much fun!
