Now in mid-40s & all that sun damage from when I was younger is coming back to haunt me. Of course it's been years since I've sun-bathed but the damage is done. My skin is normal, dark olive complexioned & not very wrinkled. However, every year I get more & more age spots/brown spots showing (mostly on the cheeks & forehead). Eventually I'll have a professional dermatologist do a peel or laser on me but right now I can't afford it. I want something that will act quickly to start (a home peel?) & then something to use to keep it up. Any suggestions I might try in the meantime?
Thanks |

I used to have lots of freckles on the cheek. Try many different kinds of whitening products but didn't work out nicely. Finally, I decided to have a laser peel 2 years ago. It cost me about $1000 CAD and I could get immediate result in just one month. Though the brown spots come back lately but the color is a lot lighter than before.
Now, I have a few brown spots on my eye lid and I started to use Vit C eye gel and an eye cream with SPF15. Altogether work well on the spots and the skin tone around my eyelids are brighten up too.
Mind you that protective measure is very important. Use a high protection sunscreen and wear a cap if necessary. |

Ocha is correct. If you don't use a good s/s everyday you might as well not even try to correct this problem. If they go away, they'll come right back. UVA rays feed them. A good s/s worn religously will help to lighten them. Vit. C also has some lightening ability. Retin-a helps along with Clear by Obagi. |

Have you ever tried Green Cream?
The people that I know that use it just rave about it.
You can read about it here:
http://greencream.com/
If you are interested in trying it, please start at level 3 (the lowest level) slowly before proceeding to a stronger one - there are also levels 6 and 9 and ALWAYS use a broad spectrum sun screen as your skin will be more likely to burn.
There are a few places that will sell you samples of GC for cheap... you should be able to find them with a google search.
Good luck and take care. |

Yikes, not too many options. I use a prescription retinoid creme in the winter but just the hint of sun, even with a sunscreen on, burns my skin. So I don't use the Retin-A in the summer. I use a 30 broadspectrum sunscreen daily and Laroche-Posay Active C. Looked at Green Cream but they don't list their Canadian suppliers if any... I'll do more research on that. Thanks. |

Since you already use Retin-A, it's unlikely Green Cream will do anything for you. even level 9 (the strongest) is weaker than the weakest Retin-A.
Laser seems to be the only other option. You mentioned you have dark olive skin, so I don't know which laser would be best for you. I do know on fair skin Ruby is the best for brown spots, it might work for you too, I simply don't know.
There are places that will charge per spot or time spent rather than a flat rate. That might work for you. Call around. |

People on this site have also mentioned Caudalie Radiance Serum for spots. I've read that it begins to work after a month of using it. Any users out there who can confirm this? Anyway, I've been thinking of trying this for my spots. |

Remergent products work but I don't know which one as I use them all. |

not sure if this is the route you want to go but, I had laser skin resurfacing this past winter on my face, neck, chest and hands. It looks all the freckles, age spots off. I looked like a complete freak for a couple of weeks, but the results were well worth it. It wasnt that expensive because a friend did it, she charged me $400.00 and I had 3 treatments. |

There is a specific Remergent product for diminishing marks. It's called Clarifying Concentrate. But I think the DNA Repair Serum's also supposed to help.
Unfortunately, like Bushy, I've been using samples of several Remergent products and couldn't say which one works better for this. |

Remergent products - emailed the company today and they are sending me a free sample packet of their products to try. I am really excited about trying them out after reading reveiws here at EDS. |
