I admit it, I am a makeup idiot! I desperately need help.
1) My face is extremely dry. I use "very good" moisturizers (have tried dozens and spent a fortune). I, also, use good eye creams as well as serums for wrinkles (I'm 58 years young). I've used "Genie" which I understand is supposed to be very good. Sure didn't work for me! Anyway, when I put all the creams, moisturizers and serums on - let them dry for 5 - 10 minutes I put on Bare Escentuals (current foundation of use) my undereyes look "cakey." Any suggestions? If not, do you know a good makeup shrink?!
2) I have not been able to find a mascara that works for me. I need one that adds length. Every brush is full and I think one that has little to no thick brushes might work better for me. What do you think/recommend?
Thanks,

Personally I recommend using a liquid foundation or one that is creamy, powder usually enhance flakes and dry skin. I recommend Sonia Rykiel's makeup base - it is suppose to hydrate your skin while enhancing makeup application afterward. The ingredients has quite a few botanicals that are good for your skin, if you want I can list it out for you.
Sonia Rykiel also has a line of foundations that are hydrating - I use the Eclat Supreme compact foundation, it's sort of like a cream foundation but lighter, great coverage. It makes my skin look "dewy". Unless you use a concealer I don't think you need to set this foundation w/powder at all.
I also recommend that you use a good moisturizing mask - Valmont's Renewing Pack is highly recommended by EDS members not to mention that Valmont is a great line for your age + skintype.

Hi Mimi!!
I'm 24 and BE still looks cakey under my eyes. Personally, I don't think this stuff is made for undereye concealor. It's good for around the eye, and blending out shadows, but directly under? Nope. I use a cream concealor to blend out dark circles-- currently, it's Sally Hansen healing beauty under eye concealor. It has retinol in it, and I fnd with regular use, my dark circles aren't as dark. Most importantly, it's not cakey or obvious.
As for mascara, I think DHC long lash is what you need! I recently wrote a review on it here on EDS, if you search it. The brush is long, no big grabby bristles. It gives me very long, natural looking lashes and stays put all day. |
