i've gotten such conflicting info. one expert says apply in upward motions, another says in downward motions, and i've heard some women say just to pat...

so i'm wondering -- how do you all apply it? what's the proper technique?

I've only ever been told to do it in sweeping, upwards motions, so that's what I've always done.

I don't actually use a specific neck cream. Apart from Vitamin C Serum and the occasional treatments, I just smooth on some Camellia Oil, leave that to sink in a little, then follow it with Neal's Yard Remedies Frankincense Face Cream.

do most people use their face cream on their neck instead of a separate neck cram?

and -- wondering what is Camellia Oil? have never heard of it

I use an upward motion with the back of my hand so I get the benefit of the cream there too and it feels more natural to go upward that way than with my fingertips.

Good question!!! I was told that use upward stroke (or pat) on the neck and moving downward from the collar bone to the decollete (for Lymph Drainage purpose). Is that right?

Oh now I'll add to the confusion Shock
I was told NEVER to use a downward motion on the SIDES of the neck due to lymphatic drainage.

I tend to use a gentle side sweeping motion on the sides of my neck and an upward motion under my chin. I think the whole idea is not to drag your skin when you apply a cream. Serums can be patted gently on the skin. GENTLE APPLICATION is the key, IMHO. Smile

Here's a thread that tells you a little more about Camellia Oil and what some of the posters here use it for:

My skin care therapist told me to always use upward strokes. She said that it would help prevent sagging skin in the future...
