Can carrot oil be used on Acne prone skin? Is it oily looking? Would I dilute it with a carrier oil? I heard that it would make a good light sunscreen because it is packed with beta carotene? |

A highly nutritious plant, containing substantial amounts of Vitamins A, C, B and B6. The roots have a strong tonic action on the liver and gall bladder, good for the treatment of jaundice and other complaints. The seeds are used for the retention of urine, colic, kidney and digestive disorders, and to promote menstruation. In the Chinese tradition it is used to treat dysentery and to expel worms. The dried leaves are current in the British Herbal Pharmacopoeia for calculus, gout, cystitis and lithuria.
Carrot seed essential oil is best known for the care of dry or damaged skin and hair, dermatitis, eczema, rashes and even pre-cancerous skin conditions. Despite its carrot smell, it is used in some complexion creams to improve skin tone, elasticity, and general skin health. It may even slow the progression of wrinkles.
Carrot seed makes a good essential oil for anyone who spends a lot of time outside because it seems to reduce the frequency of skin problems produced by the sun.
Carrot Seed oil helps heal abscesses, boils and ulcers. The essential oil helps treat liver and gallbladder disorders, particularly hepatitis, colitis, and enteritis. Carrot seed stimulates the lymph system and has styptic properties. It also aids women's milk production after childbirth.

Oh and another side note on the carrot oil...it STINKS!
Which makes me nuts because of all the fabulous benefits. I have yet to find anything to mask the vile (to my sniffer) scent. |

Hi Candy, My stupid question - are we talking about something extracted from our good old everyday carrot? WOW seems such a cure-all thing !! How can you be so learned - even about Chinese tradition?? Can you advise where I can order this (the essence or derived product)?
Just realize you have such a COOL 'signature' !! I am still eagerly waiting for my sample pack from you. Guess it takes a while to fly it all the way to Hong Kong. |

I wish I was that learned - it's actually good ole Google...I did a search 'skin benefits of carrot oil'. It can be purchased at a ton of sites on the 'net. I got mine from Wellington Fragrance.
Here's a list of places to start with - http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=purchase+carrot+essential+oil
