OMG I love this foundation!!!! After seeing all the flawless finishes from the makeovers on TLC's What Not To Wear, I was so curious what foundation Carmindy was using. All I could see was that silver can that she spritzes on a sponge to even out the complexion to perfection. Luckily I found out that it was the Era spray foundation, from the great girls on EDS. I went out and got the small 15ml can at Vancouver's Beauty Mark (www.beautymark.ca) for $48+tax=$55. This is also available at Sephora (but only in 1 shade), or on their website (www.classifiedcosmetics.com). Comes in 10 yellow-beige and red-beige shades. So I came home and used Carmindy's technique to put it on...shake can (you HAVE to shake since it's 60% water and you need to mix up the water with the pigments), spray on semi-damp sponge, and apply. I use it after I've dabbed on some concealer, and no other foundation has given me such a radiant, dewy, glowing, flawless, airbrushed look!! The texture is silky and once dried (and it dries fast!), will not budge. I have tried it all...from drugstore to high-end and MMU, and nothing else compares to this. It's hard to explain: goes on sheer but gives great coverage to large pores, undereye circles and acne scars, and yet looks completely natural! The shade Y3 is the second-lightest yellow-based shade and blends perfectly with my medium, yellow-toned olive skin. It looks like my skin, but better! This baby survived the hot day at the beach, and the sauna and steam room. My skin is oily and hormonal-acne-prone. This did not break me out, change color or streak. Also did not make me an oil slick. If anything, I noticed that I don't have to powder over it. Can be layered on for extra coverage, but i feel less is more. It is more pigmented than Dior Airflash. The only caveat is the price. Therefore I will only use this for special occasions and stick to my MMU for everyday wear.
Ingredients: Water, Cyclomethicone, Talc, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Polyglyceryl-4 Oleate, Dipropylene Glycol, Synthetic Wax.
Less Than 1% - PEG-8 Propylene Glycol Cocoate, Silica, Dimethicone Copolyol, Quaternium-18 Hectorite, Chamomilla Recutita Extract, Aloe Leaf Juice, Panthenol, Sodium Chloride, Silica Silylate, Propylparaben Alumina, Diazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben, Tocopheryl Acetate, Retinyl Palmitate, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Dimethicone, Propylene Carbonate, Titanium Dioxide, Mica. |

I had the Y5 colour in this and it looked really dry and obvious on my combination skin. |

Could you elaborate on the differences between the ERA and the Dior?
Does using the sponge negate the fact that it is a spray foundation? |

I think Era provides more coverage than Dior. Also i've found a better shade match with Era. As for the sponge, i don't think it negates the fact that it's a spray foundation. I can still achieve the airbrush look with a sponge. That's also the method Carmindy on WNTW uses to apply it. When I use it as a spray, i find it gets messy as it gets in my hair, eyebrows, etc, and application is hard to control. HTH |

Tell me about the sponge technique. I bought the ERA foundation and love it, but spraying on is a bit of a pain and requires quite a bit of blending. It's worth the blending and I like it more than my MMU, but am sooooo with you on the price tag and special occasion thing. |

Are you using a special kind of makeup sponge? Carmindy recommends Upstage, but I can't find it anywhere. |

I checked out drugstore.com and they don't carry Upstage. They carry Rite-Aid. Hmmmmm. Am I doing something wrong? |

KD, the sponges you are looking for are the latex-free ones, yes? Could it be these? It says:
beautyblender Blender Sponge – * The Ultimate Make Up Sponge Applicator
Now you can look like a movie star without the pricey services of a major make up artist. Introducing Beautyblender, the ultimate make up sponge applicator. Invented by top Hollywood make up artists Rea Ann Silva and Veronica Lorenz, Beautyblender has been created to leave you with a professional finish and a flawless complexion. Silva and Lorenz know that the key to a perfect face is simple: a perfect blend. So forget your fingers or sharp-edged triangular sponges, these application methods waste make up and can leave visible streaks.
Beautyblender's patent-pending elliptical shape makes application foolproof by allowing you to access hard-to-reach areas with stunning ease. Its suede texture is sensual to the touch and its unique curves fit the contours of your face, leaving your make up dazzling and undetectable. Beautyblender is latex free, non-allergenic and odor free.
Directions: Blend your way to a flawless face! Seeing make up is the first sign of an amateur application. Beautyblender was created without edges in order to eliminate visible lines and streaks. So go ahead, experiment fearlessly with your Beautyblender and discover the many ways its unique shape will set you free!
Bounce Beautyblender against your face when applying make up. Bouncing, called stippling in the make up world, blends make up without creating changes in the texture or tone of your skin. Use Beautyblender's pointed side for hard-to-reach spots like around the nose and mouth, and under the eyes. Use the round base for foundation and blush on the larger areas of your face such as your forehead, cheeks and chin.
If you apply make up with your fingers you'll find that Beautyblender will smooth and refine your make up to provide a clean finish.
Use Beautyblender damp when applying wet/dry make up. When Beautyblender is wet it is normal for it to expand to nearly twice its original size. Wash after use and place in the Beautyblender insert pedestal to dry. You can also put Beautyblender in the Beautyblender pouch and toss it in the dryer. Be sure to use an air-dry setting; Beautyblender should not come in contact with extreme heat of any kind.
If you have problem skin Beautyblender works to cover blemishes. Use the pointed end and the stipple and twist technique to work make up into depressed areas of the face. The stippling and twisting action feathers out the makeup's edges, leaving a perfect finish.

sorry I don't have any details about the date. I threw the letter away. I think it was a notice of upcoming products for the summer time. it is definitely coming soon. if you can't wait, you can check out Beautymark.com. it is a vancouver based beauty store that also carries Era. |

I saw notice of this in one of the catalogues they sometimes send out (June catalogue). It says it's coming on-air June 12.
They have some products listed in the catalogue which I assume you can go ahead and order now (not sure though .. the site was down when I went to check).
ERA Rayz Bronzer 375-229, $45.99
ERA Glaze Shimmer 375-230, $45.99
ERA Face Foundation 375-228, $57.99
ERA Face Primer 375-226, $30.00
HTH! |

I bought her book too and emailed based on info from her Newsletter and the book and didn't get a reply.
You would think that if they are so great it would be easier to find, but so far no luck.
I tried the other sponges recommended in this blog and they are okay, but a bit too absorbent for ERA. |
