Hi there,
I read a thread here some time ago about alcohol in products. I am trying to rid myself of a little back acne and am wondering if those oxy pads are ones to avoid.
If there has been a thread on this, I'd appreciate the link so as to not duplicate a previous discussion.
Thanks! |

I have really oily skin in my t-zone and break out on my back, but I notice if I use alot of drying products like astringents or other stuff with high alcohol, it proceeds to make my skin oilier due to stripping of my skins moisture or my break out areas get worse.
I used oxy pads on my face on upper back and my skin burned for an hour afterwards! And my skin isn't that sensitive normally.
One thing that I really liked for acne on my back was the Neutrogena body scrub. It exfoliates and helps clear it up without over drying. I live in such a hot climate though (the desert in the southwestern US) and I frequently sweat, especially driving in the car (115 degrees and my car takes it's merry old time cooling down!) which I think contributes to my back break outs.
And honestly the body scrub is inexpensive enough that if it doesn't work, you aren't out alot of money.
Hope this helps!
xoxo

Does Salicylic acid help your skin? That's what's in a lot of acne medicine. A lot of people make a "mask" out of uncoated aspirin and a few drops of water. It has SA in it so I tried it and I loved it. It sounds kinda weird, but my skin looked awesome right away...much brighter! |

Thanks for the replies. BP does not work on my upper back - sort of a T-zone issue on my back. Also, sometimes I get scaly eczema like patches on my shoulders and mid back. SA has been the remedy of choice and recently, I found Zapzyt Acne Wash for face and body and it works great.
For the last week, I have been experimenting with ACV diluted and putting it on every night. 2 times a week, I am adding sea salt to the mixture. In the meantime, I have discontinued the oxy pads. After one week, my back is really clear - now just getting rid of a few red spots. I will give it a month to be convinced it's working.
I heard alcohol can promote bacteria growth after use and who needs that! Never used it on my face (which is clear)but used them on my back because who wants to take 2 showers a day.
Will keep you posted. |
