I'm interested in buying emu oil but I can't seem to find it! Want to buy in person rather than over the Internet.
A few of you said "health food stores." Any specifics there? I know a lot of you are in Canada, so I guess your store suggestions won't help much, but is there anyone in the U.S. who could give a store suggestion? I tried Whole Foods and that was a no-go (though they did have a variety of other oils).
I'm in the Wash DC area if that helps.

| Why don't you order from EDS? They're just carrying a new line called "Dremu Oil" and maybe there's the one you're looking for. |

| they also sell a skin cream called Deception which I ordered directly from the company online. Well there's a deal offered on the site: you get a discount if you order both the 1 oz bottle of emu oil and the Deception cream (supposed to create an optical illusion whereby your onlookers cannot see your wrinkles, something about nano somethings that deflect light from the wrinkles) Anyway, I recieved the Deception (literally lol)cream which didn't work at all, and they left out the oil (I called and it will be sent off to me) Just a heads up so you don't get sucked into this so called "deal" |

Deception was my very first online purchase a few years ago, which taught me an early lesson to research products and ingredients.
I would classify the Deception cream as the worst product I've ever purchased. I sent it back and they shipped me a tiny bottle of emu oil as an exchange, which is promoted as 100% pure, triple refined and sells for $35 per .5 oz, and $58 per 1 oz, which is the most expensive emu oil I've seen! I had been using emu oil before I received this and was happy with the results so I just assumed that I would not dislike this product. It came in a dark blue bottle with a dropper and the "oil" was thick and hazy, which was unlike any emu oil I had used in the past so I threw it away....it just looked too gross.
I've purchased emu oil from a few distributers, and have been happy with all.....except for the dremu stuff. The online site I order from is [url]www.longviewfarms.com [/url]. I usually order the 4 ounce fully-refined bottle for about $21.00, and a small, .35 ounce, triple-refined vial for $9.95....I love both of these. The basic refined emu oil that they sell in a variety of sizes is just a bit "cloudy" but has a fine texture. The triple-refined oil is clear.
You can find emu oil sold at various health food, organic and vitamin stores, but it's been my experience that purchasing online is less expensive. |

| Sorry to hijack the thread for a second...can people tell me how they use emu oil? Does it need to be mixed with something or can it be used straight on the skin? |

Cautious newbie,
Like sweet almond oil, avocado oil and jojoba oil, Emu oil can be used alone or added to enhance other products. It's very hydrating, and there are several studies that show healing properties, as well as deeper moisturizing capabilities. I like to apply straight emu oil to my face and next after a strong mask treatment, after a stronger exfoliating product like epidermx, and after a day on the boat. (Even though I use a strong sunscreen/sunblock--and reapply, and reapply and reapply--my skin is just plain worn out from the wind and water as well as the sun. After using a gentle cream cleanser, the emu oil is very soothing....my skin just drinks it in.
I also like to add a bit of emu oil to my body lotion, and shampoo for a bit of extra hydration and shine.
There are a few different oils that I use on a regular basis, and emu oil is one of my favs. |

Thank you very much for sharing your experiences with the Emu Oil. I have never used this product but am considering it. EDS is now carrying the triple refined Dremu Oil and I'm interested in tyring it. I'm an organic skin care addict but will try anything that looks interesting (does that make sense!!??)
Glad to hear how hydrating Emu is becuase dry skin is what I've had my whole life. Well, thank's alot for your post. |

I just recieved the Dremu oil today, and yes it is thick and hazy. Do you think it is totally useless or even harmful to use? I suppose I could try sending it (and the Deception cream) back for a refund. I certainly do not want any kind of exchange from them. Yes, I too have learned my lesson. |

I like to use emu oil at night, and since I have oily skin I usually mix it with HA to help with absorption. I generally just apply the emu oil alone around my eyes. Also, I like to use the clear oil as it seems to absorb better. |

Thanks for the info. I was going to buy the Dr emu stuff from essential day spa but now that i hear it is milky and gross i'm thinking twice. I will check out the websit suggested above.

| Hi, this is my first post. I've been using emu oil for at least 6 years. I've always had to order it though since no place near me sells it. The emu oils I like best are from purpleemu or lbprocessors. Both are creamy,have no odor and absorb quickly. Also customer service is excellent.In the morning after cleansing my face, I spritz it with Earth Science Herbal tonic spray then apply a small amount of emu oil. At night I use it over super cp serum. The biggest difference I've noticed is that my skin has changed from very oily to balanced. By the way, I'm not affiliated with either company. |

For those of you who (like myself) are thinking of ordering the Dremu Oil now sold by EDS, I urge you to look up the reviews on MUA. There are some very favourable reviews. Yes, this product does seem to be thick and milky, but it seems (from the reviews) that the skin absorbs it very well and there are a number of people who really like the product.
Anyways, this is just a thought for anyone wanting more information. |

I've got the worst hair in the world - fine, dry, frizzy, chemical damage, you name it. Have been putting emu oil on my scalp and hair overnight. Now I'm not usually one for "natural" products and love my science, however my hair really does seem stronger, thicker and less prone to breakage.
It also "seems to" help with scars from scratches or cuts, although maybe they would have healed exactly the same without the emu oil ??
I buy online from uniquelyemu. They also sell a lip balm which I love, costs around 3 or 4 bucks but is my second favourite ever, second only to la mer lip balm.
Haven't tried the Dremu range. |

| Hi, I use emu oil from purplemu.com. It is thick and opague. I use it whwn my skin seems irritated from a particular treatment or product like a peel. Use use very little and it soaks in quickly. If you have dry skin, a light layer can be used under mineral makeup or alone. HTH. |

| You have to be a bit careful about what kind of emu you put in your hair though. I think the unprocessed kind (white and milky) contains peroxide because the processed ones (tend to be clear) say it's removed in their blurb. I put some of the skinbio one in my hair recently and it's a real mess. |

Actually, I think I made a mistake above because even some of the milky kind say they've removed the peroxide (including Skinbio). Sorry.

| Look up Emufire products on the web. This is a reputable product that I use myself. Don't worry about the "milky" appearance - its 100% pure and its just how it looks. Buy a small bottle because you only need to use three or four drops to moisturise your whole face and hands. |

| Looks ok but I am not familiar with this site. Emus are Ausie birds and I live in Australia so, naturally, I buy an Australian product. Check out emufiredotcomdotau. (Can't give you a direct link because I am a new member). If you are buying from oversear, I guess postage becomes an issue - so just do your homework and see which works out cheaper. |

I get mine (by the quart  ) from LB processors that Lavender mentioned. Dremu is totally over priced and I believe (though don't quote me on this!) that it is either LB's triple refined OR ultra emu oil.
There is some confusion about it because triple refined emu oil is clear (so it sounds more like the Bingo stuff dremu sell), whilst ultra (I love this stuff!  ) has a creamy almost whipped consistancy. I personally found the clear emu not moisturising enough, though it is nice under makeup.
I apply it to my face at night neat and in the day I mix half and half with HA. I also have an 8oz bottle that is half emu and half HA with a bit of super copper serum for body use. My skin is soooooooo soft now |

I just bought the triple refined Dremu Oil from EDS. It is milky white and highly moisturizing.
I am going to write a review on this product in a couple of days because I cannot praise this oil highly enough. It is one of the best products I have ever purchased.
The emu oil does for my face what nothing else could and that is deeply, deeply moisturizes and plumps up the entire face giving it a most beautiful and delightful glow. The more oil I apply throughout the day the more moisturized my face is and the deeper the glow. It seems that the skin never has too much of this oil - there's never a point where the face gets oily. It also cleared up in one day blemishes that I had plus a great big red splotch from a previous break-out.
The Dremu oil is fantastic and while I do agree that it is overpriced, it delivers. It deeply rehydrates, regenerates, nurtures and heals the skin. |
