Hi

Just received a sample of the Double Rose Rejuvenating cream. I love all things Rose but this does not smell of Rose, the overwhelming smell is of honey and the contents look like strawberry yogurt. Feels wonderful on the skin though.

Because of this sample I've just bought the Cleopatras body scrub which was £20 for 200ml. There's a couple of UK sites where you can buy OP stuff with free P+P, so I only bought the 1 item as I have tons of Jurlique I must use up before splurging on some more OP.

I did want to buy the Rose body creme also, but the site (Beauty and the East) has sold out of it at the mo.

Will let you know what the body scrub is like.

Do you mind posting the ingredient list? Their website only listed "key ingredients" which makes me suspicious.

Hi

The sample does not have the ingredients on.

Their website says...

Free from

Artificial preservatives, colourants, fragrances, petrochemicals, animal testing, pesticide, herbicide residues. Just pure organic extracts.

Did you actually check out the Organic Pharmacy website as it looks like the ingredients are listed to me.

Sharkbait, if you drop them a line I am sure they would send it back promptly, I got a very fast response when I emailed about VAT free for overseas orders. The Organic Pharmacy is the one place where you really dont need to feel any suspicion about not seeing the full list of ingredients though!

When my credit card has recovered from April's spending spree (at EDS, Organic Pharmcy, Osea, and Cellcosmet Japan) I am thinking of getting their Starter/Travel Kit to try out some of their creams and serums (whenever I go back to Australia I use that as an excuse to buy a travel kit of some line I want to try).. oh, but I already bought an Osea travel kit for the June trip, so I better wait till September for this one. Sharkbait, all the ingredients ARE listed.

I contacted OP earlier, they said this...

Those are all the ingredients listed.

We use a combination of lactic acid, essential oils & grapefruit seed extract (for preserving).

At last, a truly organic company.... hopefully.

I was wondering about the preservatives. Well, it does look good, except for the oleochemical and grapefruit seed extract. While not being organic, it´s hardly a concern if you´re not looking for a 100% organc product. But the marketing is somewhat sneaky though, saing organic while not being (fully) so.

Where does it say 'oleochemical' and what is that? Also I thought grapefruit seed extract WAS organic?!

Enlighten me.

Sharkbait, which ingredient are you saying is an oleochemical?

Re the grapefruitseed extract, not all their products have it, I know the two I have don't. I would be VERY surprized if their extract is made in the same way stated on the website. As with all natural/organic (and even chemical) ingredients, there are different standards and grades as well as extraction/manufacturing methods.

I would suggest directing the concern directly to the company for clarification.

Glyceryl Oleate, Cocoamidopropyl betaine, Phospholipids, Soy sterol & Glycine Soja etc. Basically the "derived from" (...insert fruit or natural substance here..)

While this hardly is a concern of mine (I now make my own stuff) I´m weary of the multitude of companys claiming to eco friendly, organic and whatnot. Not saying that this company is not mostly organic, but far too many companys sail under false flag.

TerrEssentials also has a ingredients list for smart consumers (or something like that). I´m sure you´ll find a link to it at their site.

Sharkbait--- have you tried any of the Flower Therapy products? How do they work/smell? They look interesting...

I haven´t tried any of their products, I´ve just read the articles on their site. I´ve heard good things about them though, except for the fact that it takes a long time to get the products, as they hand craft all products and have a lot of requests.

Hi

I asked The Organic Pharmacy about those points you mentioned yesterday Sharkbait and they replied saying...

Quote:
Grapefruit seed extract is available organically, it does go through a chemical process to make it active. There are many studies that shows it is completely natural & non toxic both to humans & to fish, birds etc. It is biodegradable and is used by 1000's all over the world internally as a treatment for candida.

Phospholipids, Soy Sterols, Glycine soya are all actually part of the same ingredient which we must list like that due to INCI requirements. All 3 are from non GMO soya and is a 100% natural emulsifier approved by the organic certification Ecocert.

Finaly Cocoamidopropyl betaine is made from coconuts , it does go through a chemical process to make it active but again this is very gentle & non toxic (the process is very similar to soap which also goes through a chemical process). There are no organic extracts that can replace this. Thus is accepted by all organic certification bodies.

Glyceryl Oleate is used in our conditioners. I cannot tell you how difficult it was to formulate a natural conditioner that actually works. Glyceryl oleate is made from coconuts & olives and again approved by Ecocert.

All our products bar 1 or 2 are between 90-99 % organic . That is a huge achievement and testament to our commitment.

Thanks, well done. At least they are open about the fact that they´re not in fact 100% organic.

Very few, if any. TerrEssentials might be, I haven´t read enough. There´s very few people (I think) that are concerned with choosing 100% organics products. The problem with all the "natural", "organic" "pure" companies is the fact that they appear to be all organic, with their plays on words (i.e using "organic" in their name - I would have thought (before reading up on it) that they were 100% organic, as that applies to organic food) and so on and so on.

I guess as they're about as organic as they can be, then that's why they're called organic pharmacy. I'm happy to buy from them, at least I know what's going into each product as all their items have a full ingredient list.

And also, how come OP's shower gels don't say they are PH balanced? Should I take that as a given with a range like that?

I used to have all sorts of problems with ...sensitivities ..but after I switched to Ren which is PH Balanced they all disappeared..now I use Jason's most days (lot cheaper!) which is also PH balanced and no problems at all. Have tried other stuff occasionally, e.g. L'Occitane but then I get problems.

Is OP Ph balanced? The jasmine shower gel is tempting...

Both, OP & REN are very tempting. I put them on my "trial list" some time ago, but first i have to use up at least a part of my stock of everything in the bathroom-drawer (and i just received my Kosmea kit which i'm very happy with...).
