I got a yeast infection for the first time in years and never was it as bad as this one. I was desperate for relief and bought the Monistat one day pack. It gave me relief for about 4 hours before it completely wore off and I was miserable again. I paid over $20. with tax. What a waste!
My SO was so sweet. He called the pharmacist to ask what would be the best solution and she said most people report back to her that the M. 1 day doesn't work and to buy the good old fashioned 7 day pack. He went and got it for me right away (so sweet). While I've needed to take Tylenol a number of times to ease the discomfort, the 7 day seems to be doing its job. Thank God!
Just wanted to share the info so no one else wastes their time or money. |

I hope you're feeling better - I tend to go for the 7 day and see a dr asap for a diflucan prescription to get rid of the infection. |

I always use the one day packs. The thing is, it takes just as long to feel relief (a few days) as the others, but you don't have to be all gooky for 3 or 7 days. They are more expensive, though! |

i haven't had one in years but I used to find the 3 (or was it 4) day packs tend to work well.
The one day one is probably good for mild infections that are caught right away... |

I haven't had to use this stuff for a long time (knock on wood), but I remember trying the 3-day version when it first came out and then having to follow-up with the 7-day one because the 3-day didn't work. After that, I always stuck with the 7-day version. I'm sure that the 1-day version would never work for me either. Patience is the key here. |

I spent years suffering from yeast infections and the best remedies were:
*Acidophilus
*Cut out all alcohol, bread, sugars, dairy
*Tea Tree Oil and Lavender essential Oil as topical treatments, if the yeast infection is vaginal the thrush will literally peel away with Tea Tree (this is best done in a bath).
*Antihistamines to take away any itching or discomfort. |

Hi skincarefreak and ulana- Thank you for the well wishes. As each day passes I am feeling better.
cloud_9- How do you deal with the discomfort waiting for it to work? I seriously was going out of my mind.
lianne- I do think the 3 or 4 day pack would work well. Anything is better than the one day, for me anyway.
Seeking~HG- You're right. Patience is the key, but so damn hard!
rosebud- How many drops of tea tree would you put in the bath? And did it stop the discomfort? |

I kind of just dump lots of drops of Tea Tree into the bath, probably about 10 drops.
You can also use a swap with neat Tea Tree and treat the effected area, the yeast infection will peel off, only make sure you rinse thoroughly straight away with water otherwise you will be sore.
It does not take away the pain at all but kill any yeast infection.
I remember talking to someone who's husband was in the navy and to avoid infections they would rehularly wash their 'ahem' in bleach!! ....Please do not do this! |

I've been told by several friends that they had no luck with the 1 day one, or that it only temporarily eased.

I think Lianne is right, I do catch them early before they get really bad. Mine are hormonally related, I get them before my period, so I usually know right away what is going on and get medicine asap. At the time I treat them, they are mild-I only notice discomfort when wiping or wearing tight jeans (sorry if that was too much information! ) I never let them get to the point of um... discharge. Also, some of them come with some cream stuff that is supposed to ease the discomfort while you wait for the meds to kick in, have you tried that? |

rosebud- Thanks for the info. I'm going to use tea tree oil if this happens again, since I am much better now.
cloud_9- I took action right away as well but this one was gonna happen with a vengence no matter what. Very strange for me. I used the external cream they supply but every time I did, it made it worse. |
